Any advice on finding a fulltouch caps lock in the same color? Would WASD's "dark grey" match?

I don't think wasd does cherry profile, do they?  So even if the cap color matches, I doubt it would be a good solution.
Oh wow, haha, in my ignorance I didn't realize what "Cherry profile" meant when ordering these.

Well you got lucky and got good quality caps.  :)  Now you can compare and see which profile you prefer.  I prefer cherry profile and I am currently typing on caps which are probably from the same mould as this GB.  They are my daily drivers...

My suggestion is to mod the stem to centre as I did for my imsto set.
It looks ugly because I use resin glue to mod.
The glue is very strong to keep the stem on pbt plastic.
However, in the end, it works perfectly  :thumb:

I'm still waiting for my blue set from Ivan and I could mod the centre stepped Caps lock again.

Oh, I understand...  I see it now when I look at your picture, but I didn't see the level change initially.  Looks pretty good.  does it feel alright?  how did you clip the stem off?

Ok, first I use Dremel machine to gradually grind the stem off.
After the original stem was off and destroyed, I used a donor keycap that I had from Taobao, cut it and grind it until I had a balance stem.
Next, I use A-B resin glue to glue the new stem and the pbt caps lock together.
This is the hardest step because making the stem to be centred requires some efforts of measurement and adjustment. For me, I need to lose 2 donor keycaps to make it really works.

After all, the feeling is great. I will take the picture of the keyboard later but for me the position fits nicely with ASD row.

Sorry for potato pic  ;D

Yeah, I feel you.

I ordered 3 different sets, but I don't think I will ever use them with this odd capslock key :(

Maybe Ivan can arrange something with IMSTO and let him produce replacement keys. He could combine it with his current Novelty Key group buy for example.

I was hoping I could do that, but sadly the factory that make the keycap don't want to make it easy. They want to enforce 300 MOQ to run that key group mold in beige/grey :( so it looks like there is nothing I can do about it this time.

Or we find a way to reach the 300 moq. For 1 key, I would probably be willing to buy 2-3 to reach moq even if I only need 1, depending on price. Even if only for blank. 300 is a lot for a full set, but for 1 key it's much less. I don't know what are the volumes for the last GB, but maybe we could make an IC/poll to see if we could get this number.

Looks like its time for you guys to start modding. As a plus, the stepped caps looks nicer.

I would be happy if the stepped capslock was center stemmed, but it's not (and if I needed an offset stem I would be happy to have it). And if I ever tried to cut the stem and glue it it would be an utter failure, of that I am sure.

Yeah... I get real frustrated with these keycap manufacturers and their stubborn ways. But, they know they essentially have a monopoly (well there is also BSP but they have their own set of other problems to deal with them) for this exact keycaps so they can get away with being as difficult to deal with as they want.

I guess the way around is to avoid them in future group buys if at all possible.

Yeah, I'd buy more keys than I need as well if it helps reaching MOQ.

But I assume this is for every color, so we'd probably have to buy 300x caps lock for the Irish set, 300x for the Ural set, etc...

Btw, does the blank set also have the wrong caps lock key or is this problem limited to the dyesub ones?

All the 2tone key have same. It's because of the keys grouping in the molds. We would have to buy 300x caps lock, homing keys, numpad 0 in beige at least and there might even be some others in there. I suppose alternate homing keys are possibly interesting, not sure what else to really do with beige numpad 0 key besides it being useful for keyboard with 2unit shift.

Right, the only other choice is BSP... and they don't even have fulltouch caps locks, 1.25 keys, or SPACEBARS! Plus they cost a lot more too. Easiest solution if they are going to be problem about 2tone is not to do 2tone and stick to single key color.

I'm sure there are tons of people who don't ever use the stepped caps and it doesn't bother them who would give it up in case someone messed up their mod.

Though, in reality, it should be easy to fix if you mess up. Just Dremel it out again and use another stem and try again. As long as you don't Dremel too much, and have and endless supply of donor stem caps, you're good.

I think some people may like the dark home keys.  Hey it frames GH.  :)  The 0 could potentially be useful for some people if we just get it as a blank cap...

I'm down if we try hitting the 300 MOQ for the fulltouch caps lock mold group in the beige color. I'm sure it would help for buyers of previous two-tone GBs too.

Or another solution would be like Ivan said, start up a GB for inverted two-tone sets, which is an interesting idea in itself. This would be done knowing that they'll have the same fulltouch caps lock error (beige alphas, white mods, but incorrect beige fulltouch caps lock). And then, people who participated in both this and that GB can switch the two proper keys once they receive the sets.

Possibly unlikely due to knowing full well that there's going to be an "error" with the GB beforehand, but just a suggestion.

Plus, as a plus in the inverted mods, we could do 1x numpad 0 and maybe 00.

If we get a new mold done (I doubt it, but we never know) it would be nice to also get the \ key (above enter) in the same color scheme as the mods to make it symmetric!

For me, I used this keyboard for small tasks required moving around.
The centre stepped cap locks is acceptable for me.

Plus another keyboard shipped yesterday too - let's see which arrives first ...

The plan is to unite them when they arrive.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

It's a shame about the full touch, but it just means I'll have to find a custom board to put my round 1 alphas with my round 2 mods.  Thanks again, lysol/Ivan  :thumb:

That's quite a looker. Is that MJ2 stock white or did you paint it?

If you're in the USA and haven't gotten your order already it was most likely either shipped Monday or Today. For the most part I sent out orders by forum name alphabetically.

It's a stock off-white Filco Ninja (MX Blacks).  My 'daily' driver.

That should teach me to begin my user names with A or a 0 :D
