NIB IBM 1394618 / 1394619, worth anything?
« on: Tue, 21 May 2013, 17:46:31 »
Hey guys,

We're moving around at work and I've been begging up any mechanicals I can find, and I've found a few.  One is way different than the others, and NIB.  It appears to be the IBM Word Processor version, 1394618 and 1394619 model numbers.  Has several cables in the box, keyboard is brand new (and the keys sound so....  tight!  Good thing!), manu date 06-20-90.  Also includes set of templates that look like they sit on the upper portion of the keyboard.

I googled around, the only reference I found was a thread identifying this keyboard for someone else on here, but didn't want to dredge up that thread.  Anyone think this keyboard is worth anything?  I'm going to keep some of the keyboards around, the best of the, but at some point I'll have to get rid of the rest.

Photo below, some glare but not bad.

The 1394618 is supposedly identical to the 1391401 with the exception of custom keycaps for word processing software. As such, I'm sure it's worth something. Not as much as an NIB 1391401, but definitely worth something, in my opinion.

Nah! Its not worth anything.

Let me take it off your hands so it doesn't take up space.

I'll even pay for shipping since I'm such a nice guy. ;)

Cables are worth $10-12 each if they are standard Model M SDL-to-PS2

Hmm, interesting.  I didn't know the cables were worth (much), even though I am missing a few myself on other keyboards around.  I might see if there's a FS section here and just put the keyboard out there, see what comes of it.  I mostly want these to go to good homes vs getting crushed :( but if it's worth a few bucks to someone, I'll be happy to go there. :)

It'd also be fun to use it at work and confuse people, but I have another keyboard with a Lexmark logo on the Esc key which i'm currently using which is pretty cool ;)

Oh, well drat.  Hmm, not going to spam 46 posts to get there, at least not intentionally..  I'll probably stock these for a bit then.

BTW, I pulled the cables out of the box..  One looks like a standard PS2 with a ferrite bead on it I assume, but the other is confusing me..  It has TWO PS2 outputs?  It work on two separate computers at once?  oh, it has a keyboard and mouse emblem on it, although the keyboard doesn't have a mouse.  Interesting.

Should be a female PS/2 port on the underside of the keyboard. It's basically a straight pass-through to the SDL Y-cable with a common ground pin.
