1. When it comes to IBM rubber domes there seems to be 3 keyboards with trackpoint: The 8923, the RT3200 ][ spacesaver, and the little 'M4' buckling sleeve. How would you rate these with the most important factor being the quality of the trackpoint?
2. How does the Unicomp Enduropro's stick handle? If it sucks can it be modded in any way?
That is all for now...
If it's not a TrackPoint II it's awful. The end. They're all TrackPoint original which has a pretty "meh" strain sensor. The only one worth owning for a modern system is the buckling spring TrackPoint II and it's pretty meh as well since it has no inertia support. At all. Period. Zero zip zilch nada none.
As far as the EnduraPro goes? Honestly, don't bother. It's a cheaper version of the TrackPoint II in a modified M2 shell basically. It addresses the manufacturing difficulty of the M13/TrackPoint II chassis with regards to the button area reasonably well, but it's still an old TPII to the core.
As far as modifying the TPII/EnduraPro?
Nope. Don't even bother considering it. The buttons are on matrix lines, and if you mess with that, you'll mess with the behavior of the TP itself. The matrix lines are an integral component of the design somehow and any sort of tampering with them tends to have exceedingly bad results.
