WTB Switch change?

I have a Filco TKL with mx blues that I no longer use because I do not like blues. I am currently using a Keycool 84 with reds. I like the keycool but the layout makes finding keycap sets impossible. Is there anybody out there who does modding services who could switch my blue switches to say ergo clears or basically anything different? Willing to pay for shipping, the new switches/springs, and labor. Thanks

You should also possibly look for a Universal TKL plate so that if this happens in the future, you can do it yourself with ease. It only makes sense to do it whilst in the midst of taking everything apart anyway.

Im not sure what you mean by that, its a standard filco plate. I just dont know how to change the switches.

That's what moose was talking about ^ If you're going to get someone to desolder the switches you might as well have them install that while they're at it. That way you can open the switches yourself without desoldering.

Read that. What I'm saying is, if you want the ability to change the switches on your own in the future, without having to pay someone or without having to desolder, you should try to find one of those plates. Then, since you're planning to pay someone to do the work anyway, have them install that plate. And in the future, you'd be good to go to easily open up the switches on your own.

awesome video.  its not hard at all to do a switch change.  my first one was a QFR blue spring swap.  desoldering was nice and easy on the QFR.

Well if anybody here is willing to sell me one, ill take one I suppose. My first priority is getting rid of these lame blue switches though

The modding is pretty straight forward and easy.  I did it with my Rosewill RK-9000 when I tossed 62g and 65g Ergo Clears on it.

Before you get it modded though, I highly suggest you try Ergo Clears with a 55g spring, Red/Brown/Blue spring, 62g spring, and 65g spring and see which one you like the best.  I ended up really liking 67g springs, but they're a rarity that I doubt you'll find.

And if you're going to do Ergo Clears, you might as well lube and sticker it.
