Noppoo Choc Mini - PS/2 Problem?
« on: Fri, 31 May 2013, 04:38:39 »
Hey guys, so as some of you may or may not know, the Noppoo choc mini is unable to press certain keys during boot, whether it be in the bios or selecting a OS on the selection screen or even choosing to start up in safe mode, safe mode with networking and so on.

I did a little bit of research and through my research I found out that 'apparently' buying and using a PS/2 adapter would fix this problem and it did, it did fix it, but with that arose a whole array of other problems.

  • When typing while using the PS/2 adapter, it would sometimes type letters twice? I thought I was making more mistakes while typing, but that was not the case, for some strange reason it would just type certain letters twice (this does not happen while using USB).
  • The deleting of data would happen at a much faster and more efficient speed, this can be changed in the keyboard settings itself, but still it could be a problem if you see it that way.

Does anyone know why this is happening and does anyone have a work around, as I like to be able to change bios settings and choose the start-up options that I would like, >.>

Regards

Thank you very much!

And have I tried F10/11 for what? when booting up my computer and what not? I'm not sure what those keys do.

They control the debounce time of the switches, might help to adjust it if you see double characters often.

Oh really? I didn't know that, I'll have to try that in a little while and see what happens, I'd really like to stick to PS/2 if possible.

What issues are you having when booting while using the Noppoo Choc Mini?  I have the older model and haven't had any issues when booting or when going in to the bios via USB.

I can't press enter when in the BIOS, if I do, nothing happens.

If I boot into my operating system and I shut down abruptly previously, it will ask you, "Do you want to stand windows normally" or enter some recover b/s and if I press the up or down arrow to choose, I can't press enter then either.

I used to have dual-booting operating systems, the same principle applies there also. >_>.

Hmm, that's odd.  I've never encountered that problem.  The only thing I had to do was use numlock and +/- to move drive priorities since there isn't standard numpad.

I've never tried that, I've got a UEFI bios and what not, so it's not a huge deal in the bios but I can't do certain tasks, such as (press enter etc).

The main problem would occur when starting up and I couldn't select my O/S or enter safe mode, etc, etc.
But now, the problem is that if I want to keep using PS/2 then I have to suffer with double typing keys, I'm going to type a basic paragraph and paste it in here on my keyboard, (cherry reds btw), the first line will be with the USB and then the second line will be with PS/2 and you'll see the vast difference.
