Help finding a new mechanical board.
« on: Sun, 02 June 2013, 01:05:25 »
Hello, I am looking for a new mechanical keyboard preferably with Cherry MX Brown switches and PBT key caps stock. I have my eyes on the Poker 2, I'm wondering if there are any good options that I'm overlooking,  if you guys have any good recommendations for me it's much appreciated! Also, I live in USA if that helps, thanks!

Welocme to GeekHack!

I'm not as well-versed in the new poker II, but one major draw for a keyboard like that is the size.

There are lots of good keyboards with cherry MX brown and PBt keycaps of course. I haven't tried these, but I have read good recommendations on the following:
Leopold FC700R (I think)
Ducky G2
KBT ONI / ONE
KBtalking PRO
etc.

Here's mechanicalkeyboards' list of their keyboards that meet your requirements. They have a great search feature to start paring down results, though they don't have everything.

It's not MX brown, but I always recommend IBM model M keyboards  or unicomp keyboards. They have dye sublimated PBT keycaps, and you can even get GH specific ones if you like. Buckling spring switches might not be for you (they are much louder, and somewhat heavier than cherry MX brown for example)

I recommend giving the Unicomp Spacesaver a try. I custom ordered one (called in and asked for black on black, no print on the keys). Other than the Unicomp sticker over the LEDs, it looked pretty cool! That's what got me started down the path in Mechanical Keyboarding.

I ended up picking up an Overclock.net Edition Ducky with MX Browns, but I ended up giving it to my brother.
