What's that keyboard?
« on: Mon, 17 June 2013, 15:24:52 »
Hi,

As far as I can tell there isn't a thread where people can help each other with identify keyboards they find on eBay or the like.

Well here's something I found the other day that looked interesting and the seller said they would ship it to me but for the life of me I couldn't tell what it was:

Anyone? At first I thought it a G80-3000 but it has a line across the top

Definitely not Cherry. Without something more like a brand, part number, fcc id, anything... it's impossible to say what it could be. Could be anything inside there Alps type, some other mechanical kind of switch, rubberdomes... all I can say is it was probably made in later 80's to mid 90's given it's style and no winkeys.

I asked the seller and he said that he couldn't find a make anywhere, all he saw was "SK -710" on the back. Might just spend the £15 out of curiosity :P

Indeed :) I think it's something similar to this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SILITEK-SK-8831B-2R-A-X-FCC-ID-GYU30H-SK8802R-KEYBOARD-Working-/181150260050?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item2a2d659b52 which uses some strange MY-switch lookalike

If it's Silitek, keycaps might be ALPS-compatible, but it's not worth it.

Yep, I haven't currently got any ALPS boards so it definitely isn't worth it :P
