getting KBT Pure

Hi guys!

Lately I was thinking about getting KBT Pure/Poker and I've found this website:

http://kbtrace.com/ - is it legit? Anyone bought from there?

It says it is located in France and offers free shipping to my country (Poland) which seems cool enough.
Price seems quite high (I can see those keyboards going for 99$ instead of their 109 EUR price) but the shipping and maybe avoiding customs, being it in Europe is what lures me in.

Another thing is: what is the general opinion about the keyboards offered there?
I'm thinking about KBT Pure with backlit specificaly. It's not like the backlit is that important for me. I consider it more of a gimmick as I touchtype anyway, but getting it, just for the kicks, for just 10 EUR more is nice.

Also what I've noticed is that every KBT Pure offered by them that is not US layout has "Pro" in the name, while the US variant doesn't. However the description is exactly the same. What's up with that?

Yeah they're legit, they sell on amazon too!

I love my KBTalking Pure, even tho it has a really funky layout (especially the fn layer!).

The Pure Pro and Pure are different keyboards, the 'Pro' is the second iteration of the Pure series. The Pure being the original one, the original only came in the ANSI layout (US).

Hope that clears up some confusion!

Oh yeah right. Now looking closer at the pictures of Pro and non-Pro I can tell there are arrows on the Pro. At first I thought those are UK layout differences. Anyway I could go with UK layout, but I am a little bit worried about small shifts.
What Pro has over non-Pro except the arrows? (which I don't really like to be honest)

The main difference is the layout, lets take a look at both of them.
Pure:

Pure Pro, sorry can't find a better one for this one:


We have the obvious ANSI vs ISO layout, but lets focus on the other differences.
Smaller spacebar, 1unit shifts and backspace. right control is in a really weird place!
As for the fn layer, they switched some things around and added a Pn layer. This programmable layer allows you to completely program a layer of the keyboard to your own likings.
I've heard that there are some Pure pro's in ANSI layout somewhere... Not sure where though, heard that Massdrop had them for a while.

Thanks, as already two of you are saying that the shop is alright then I think I will be placing my order there!

Thanks for the layout comparison. Looking at the pictures I like the older Pure's layout much more. Programable layer sounds very cool, but if that was the main difference (except the layout) then I think I would go with the non-Pro version. Or is there anything else? Build quality maybe?

I've got a pure and a pure pro in the mail right now.  But the more I look at pictures of the pure pro's layout, the more I wish I hadn't impulse purchased it.  Such a bizarre layout. I initially ordered the pro because I use arrow keys a lot, but when I learned you can in effect flip a switch and turn the right side modifiers into arrow keys, I immediately purchased a regular pure.  Pretty sure i'll be happier with the pure.  Now I have to figure out what to do with the pro...

I would be wary of the backlit pure. I think you should consider waiting for a backlit Poker 2, or Ducky Mini.

I'm now leaning towards the 60% Ducky, for multiple reasons.  :)

Well my pure showed up today.  First impressions are...  I freaking love it.  Though it is not sitting flush on my desk which is a little disheartening.  I guess I'll have to shell out for one of those metal cases.

Yeah from reading during the research stage of my purchase I knew to do that.  It definitely made it better, but its just gonna bother me.  I'll just throw some more money at it when I can get into a GB of a case I like.

You can find a Pure cnc case for relatively cheap. My Pure had the same issue. Try bending it like others have said or putting a mousepad/towel beneath your board.

FWIW, I just got a Pure cnc case for my Pure and I love it.

I've owned a pure for about 3-4 months and haven't had any problems utilizing the arrow keys via the fn+space (sw0). I use it a lot when I highlight a words via ctrl+shift+arrow to highlight whole words or parts of a sentence, or to skip words forward or back when correcting typing mistakes. I really don't miss having a dedicated set of arrows, but it did take a little bit of getting used to.

I got mine (Pure Pro). The shipping was super fast, it took like 3 days from France (I believe) to Poland. I have to get use to the layout (switching from ansi to iso) but overall the keyboard is fine, also I seem to like the layout so far.

I got the backlilt version and while it's all cool and nice, the only complaint is the keycaps. Especially the top row, they have small dots where the light shows through. It's in the middle of the side on almost every top keycap, looking like a manufacturing defect. It's not a major anoyance but it's a sign that the paint may wear off.

If I turn out to love the layout I will look for some keycaps for this baby.

The dots are probably sprue marks from the injection molding process. It's not a manufacturing error, its simply part of the manufacuring process.
