WTB: Cherry DS set
« on: Tue, 02 July 2013, 20:22:24 »
I figure it's about time I get my hands on one of these and give them a try. I'm looking for a set that would cover a modern tenkeyless keyboard (Filco/quickfire/WASD/etc). I've never been particularly fond of the ebay hunting game so I was hoping someone had a set to spare. :)

I'm not sure if there are sets that have nubs instead of scoops, but I do have a preference for nubs if both are an option. While I will readily admit that scoops feel nicer, I find that nubs work better for actually accomplishing their purpose of locating the homerow.

I live in Canada, but USPS first class is simple and cheap for just a light set of keycaps.

Thanks in advance!
Layout: Colemak
Fastest typing speed: 131 WPM on typeracer, 136 WPM on 10fastfingers.
Daily driver: Filco Tenkeyless MX Brown with ergonomically weighted, lubed springs.
Ergo keyboards: Truly Ergonomic, Kinesis Advantage, Ergodox

Just buy that, seriously. It's an all in one set that will cover most ANSI keyboard layouts. You could source them for cheaper from ebay but you'll need to harvest them from multiple boards. Not really worth it IMO. Unless The_Ed offers his kit for cheaper. :)

Wrong, you can not source ALL those keys for cheaper on ebay. I use to sell them for $150 + shipping/paypal before the whole GMK thing. It takes 2 nearly 100 POS boards to make a single set (I buy in bulk so I get them for a little cheaper). But because of the whole GMK thing I have accumulated quite a few spare sets (9 I believe).

PM me a reasonable offer, otherwise I'll just be keeping them as I don't want to take a loss and I may eventually use them. I may throw in a non-secondary printed numpad if you genuinely want it and will use it.

I'm more partial to the white on black sets than the white and grey ones that originative has I think. Plus wasn't there a whole fiasco with Sherry?

But ooph, didn't realize what the going price on these was. Since I use colemak the only sets I've been paying attention to have been the ones in group buys, for which I am very grateful to 7bit and matt3o for offering with my obscure needs!

I might have to reconsider my desire for them, it's a bit more than I think I'm willing to spend on a set of keycaps. But man, those legends look so much better than the cherry infill set I have.

I won't be getting the $150 I used to get because of the whole GMK thing. Not many full sets of original cherry WOB are sold, so there really isn't a going rate for them right now. Just make me a reasonable offer considering they were harvested from 2 NIB POS boards (1 of them being G81 so I can't sell the switches or stabilizers).

Oh yeah, and remember that both flat and stepped capslocks are included, the bottom row is fully compatible, and delete/end/pg dn are the correct row profile. No moogle knockoffs here, it's all original cherry.

I can also sell a similar set; let me know if you are interested. I took it new from my new Cherry G80HUBUS  + have a Signature Plastics set for the modifiers.
Most of the modding can be done on your own once you break through the psychological barriers.

G80HUBUS is not a full model number... That could be anything... It could be full of relegendables and an ISO Enter and \|...

EDIT: And if it's a G80, then why do you have a moogle for the modifiers? Only G81's have incompatible modifiers.
