Mass Effect Love Life
« on: Sat, 13 July 2013, 20:55:14 »
I am really into Mass Effect. The whole game is so well written in my opinion and does give anyone a lot of option in decisions making.
What i like the most was how you as a character can deny or engage in a love affair with one of your teammates.

I played as female Shepard in all three games and in 3 i got into Kelly Chambers. Pretty nice...
Though i wonder how everyone else ended up playing the game. Perhaps others did not engage into anything. Or had different experiences. Maybe you like to share?

I do need to replay and start off as a male Shepard next time to get a better picture of how the male part handles things.
Though i think that none of the social engagements lead to anything more than a good time. At least that was my impression.

Its a nerdy thing :)

My maleshep went Ashley for my entire playthrough 1-3 I just thought it would be worth seeing what would happen being patient waiting out my entire ME2 without a romance. Probably one of the more emotional ones you can pick.

i have been stuck on ME1 since i got it (like 2 years ago) on a steam sale. I have 14 hours into it, and I know I am nowhere near done :(.

I've been stuck on ME2 for a while, although it is my second playthrough of the series and the reason is related to this thread; I couldn't make up my mind which love interest to explore in that playthrough and then sorta forgot about it.
Edit: As for the hours; I think I spent 30+ hours on my first ME1 playthrough, I think I've spent maybe 110+ hours on the ME games total. I really like the universe they've created and can't wait for the next game in the setting. They've said the ME series is over, but the universe isn't, so it's likely that a new game set in the same universe will be announced next year from what I've heard so far.

My maleshep went Ashley for my entire playthrough 1-3 I just thought it would be worth seeing what would happen being patient waiting out my entire ME2 without a romance. Probably one of the more emotional ones you can pick.

I did the same, currently stuck in the middle of another playthrough where I cba  figuring out what to do in ME2 after romancing Liara in ME1.

I really like the romance part of the ME games as I'm kind of a sucker for romance stories, and in ME they fit in as they are part of the story and follow it, rather than bending the story to get some clumsy forced romance out of it. Then again I read a bit of manga, and most romance there is pretty annoying so the ME romance might be **** and it's just me being used to even ****tier romance.

Yeah I did think so because of all the talk I've seen about it, but I don't really have a lot of romance story things to compare it to personally.

In my first playthrough with ME1 i had a romance with Garrus. It seems that he is the natural fit actually. Altough you can only imagine i suppose.

I've got to get me the complete game since i sold my 360 a while back. Actually traded with a friend.

so i've heard. my friend always raves about it and he was the reason why i got it actually.

i just.. i just can't get into RPGs. Hell, I have it set up to auto level instead of leveling stuff myself.

Just play it on easy, check on your gear every now and then until you're done with ME1. After that you don't need to bother with gear much either.

I raced through ME1 in 10 hours, it really wasn't my thing. I had much more fun on 2 and 3 and put ~40 hours into each of those.

Nope. I liked ME1 because, at least how I felt it; the combat was mostly a device to tell the story, so while the mechanics of the combat were not that exciting and didn't require much skill, it served its purpose well and let the story take more of the spotlight. In 2 and 3 they put more emphasis on the combat, and the combat was better, particularly the powers, but it did take up quite a bit of the spotlight.

my love for mass effect is sad, i initially played as male shep, but instantly restarted as femshep once i found out jennifer hale was the VA. me3 was shipped to me the day after release, it sat at my door unplayed for a few days, it was also the day i put down my dog. I would say i was a zombie at that point, most would, then i tripped over the ups box and decided what was in it. me3 helped me through that time... i didn't even mind the mega suck ending... the worst... absolutely worst part?

the new jersey shore character... the meathead NO one, NO ONE in the world liked... or played

was named james, that was my dogs name.

You bet i had that jersey shore meathead on all my missions!

but no i never got into any relationship with my femshep, just felt weird as a guy. (even tho my wife has no problem with it playing a guy character, but that's cuz in 30 years of gaming, 99.9999999% of all character leads are male anyway, so she's just like, oh yea, that's a thing)

Nope, I've got a few friends who say it's one of the best games ever, but I've never been a fan of SW(apart from the imagery of some of their baddies; stormtroopers, vader and fett are all some of the most badass characters ever) and I've just never bothered with the game.

I liked the first ME the best too.  I think I probably spent around 60 hours in it, just because I tried to explore all of the systems in the game. It got kind of redundant, but the exploration aspect was my favorite part. Oh yeah,  that's probably why ME1 was my fave.
Now if you want to talk about total hours spent on a game...  Fallout 3 and Skyrim have to be my biggest time sucks ever.

If you liked Mass Effect, you would love KotOR. It doesn't have much to do with SW lore, the entire story happened far before Luke Skywalker was even a thing.

It is my favorite game of all time, so I might be a bit biased..

lol total game hours? StarCraft 1, Diablo 2, Guild Wars 1, StarCraft 2, Fallout/Oblivion/Morrowind (**** Skyrim) are all probably over 2k hours each.

ME trilogy maybe only 100 total.

The first one was great. But what i did not like was the fact that every base you landed was the same as the other. The only difference was that you pushed boxes around. Kinda like Sokuban.
But it was the first game of the series.
One thing i am so bad in it are the boss fights. I remember it took me awhile to defeat the final boss in ME1. Same was happening again with ME3. I am just that bad.
But ME1 was more of an real RPG compared to the rest of the games imo.
