Shaving razors (for the face ya sickos)
« on: Sun, 14 July 2013, 22:42:16 »
I am getting tired of having to bye a new razor every time my Gillette Fusion dulls and the moisture fades. Even though they give a real good shave, they just dull really easily and I get uber stubbily after a few hours.

I used to be really into straight razor shaves, but I don't want to have to keep up with the upkeep of sharpening the blade and what not.

Any good razors (electric, straight, manual) suggestions at a reasonable price?

There's a shaving thread somewhere I'd find it but I'm on my phone.

I suggest buying an afordable double edge razor to try first and a sample pack of blades (if you can). I don't have your problem, never have really but I also went from fusion to DE. The biggest disadvantage is it takes longer but I suffer less skin irritation. Your mileage will vary but most blades give ~4 shaves it seems maybe more if you dry them after use. I could only try what was available locally so far ive found the stainless steel blades to be too variable in performance and have had good success with the platinum/chromium coated blades. I still battle to get a good shave around the chin.

The advantage is most of the waste is recyclible, You get more regular good shaves, surprisingly I have cut myself less (except for an accidental slice of my finger when I slipped removing a blade, nothing too bad). The downside is you have to spend time finding the blades you like..somehow they can be night and day.

I had an electric it was good for a while but now it's just awful...I think they are very hit or miss sadly nothing that cuts remains sharp forever (unless you get some ridiculous material I guess?)

Don't go electric, it's never as clean as straight bladed. I'm asian though so I shave once every few months. Electric can't cut nearly close enough and leaves me agitated. Get one with cleanable blades. If you do go electric get the 3 wheel style not the roller one

Buy razers from dorco. They're the oems of many shaving companies such as gillete. And you can buy bulk from them very cheaply.

Lol I'm Asian too, and can grow a full beard in a month XD

Looks like I'm not going electric.

get a double edged razor and a shaving brush.

I use a Merkur 33c and Shavemac shaving brush.
