New guy here, help me find my keyboard!

Hello Geekhack, first time poster here! After months of lurking back and forward on this forum I've decided it's time to strike, I need a keyboard and your help!

I started off with trying diffrent Cherry MX switches and have come to the conclusion that I like blues the most. At first I thought would like the reds more but after trying the switches blues just felt best, love the sound.

As for layout I really want a TKL. I'm used to playing with a tiny laptop keyboard, having the mouse closer to me than a full-size keyboard would allow me. From what I've seen there are three (?) types of TKL keyboards: the 75% like the QFR, Ducky etc with the Arrow-keys, Delete, Insert, F1-F12 separated from the bigger group of keys (Is this type called 87?). Then the  more compact like the Keycool 84 and Noppoo Mini (Is this called 84?). This is my favorite layout, but I haven't seen many keyboards with this layout using Nordic ISO layout, is there any? Then there is the 60%, like Poker, Pure, Ducky Mini. I really like the looks of this layout but I'm not sure I could make it without the F1-F12 keys and the § (next to 1 in ISO). I'll get one of the 60% as my second (if i'll get there) perhaps .

As for keycaps and backlightning I'm not set. I really like non-shiny abit textured caps. Also colored blanks makes me drool. Would be fun to get a blank keyset with the keyboard in the same order.

I've been looking at local retailers close to me for keyboards, mostly I've been looking at Ducky Keyboards, mainly the Ducky G2Pro TKL. The keyboards here in Sweden seems to be abit overpriced tho, the TKL Shine II goes for 1200 SEK (around 181 USD). So if anyone has experience with stores in EU or stores with good shipping to Sweden please enlighten me.

One thing I can say, is don't bother with keycaps yet, because most stock keycaps are not worth it and, well, you will eventually find some irresistible keycap set here

Well, lets see. Finding a Cherry TKL board is fairly hard. But you're in luck. They have created a very amazing layout, which has all of the keys of a full size board, but compact like a TKL. With MY switches, this keyboard is called a G81-1800, and it is one of the greatest things ever invented. You should take a look as one of your options.

Also, a keyboard like the Ducky you mentioned (87) is just called TKL. A keyboard like the Keycool would be called 75%, and you're correct on 60%.

My biggest advice is to keep in mind if you plan on replacing the keycaps. Get a standard layout. The rest is personal preference. Most mechs are excellent quality.

181USD is too more for a ducky g2 pro, actually only $140 you can get it

Yeah they seem to be pretty expensive, I'll take it easy with them in the start!

Not really, since I haven't been able to try one out yet. For now Cherry MX Blues seems like the safe choice, I know I like them.

Another keyboard I've found interesting is the Filco Ninja MT2 which The Keyboard Co sells, which is in the UK with Swedish layout available. Both the Ducky G2Pro and Filco MT2 seems to be great keyboards. The difference is the keycaps (I like the Filco Ninja ones!) and profile of the keys? The Filco has a slightly higher profile (OEM), whereas the Ducky is called Cherry, correct?

I'm also a big fan of the Cherry MX Blues. I have three Filco Majestouch keyboards in Blues, Browns, and Blacks and I love them. They are built like a tank, and I've had zero issues with any of them for the past three years. I've never used "ninja" keys, mine all have standard legends (printed on top of the key), though the Ninja keys look like they might be a little more durable.

I've been a big fan of the TKL layout for home use, but sometimes there really is no way to replace a numberpad at work.

I just got a Realforce 87U and so far I'm loving the Topre switch. I got the 55g version, and I'm finding it to be a little heavy for everyday typing, but it's great for gaming or activities with that involve less typing.

The TKL form factor allows you the flexibility of buying a separate tenkey and putting on the side of your choice.

If the Filco is cheaper in your area then definitely get that. They are built to last.
