It was super cool last year to have it basically be a big community thing to get in and then random chance for a winner - felt way more inclusive that way, since just getting in was both hard to do and meant you had a chance.

But hey, it's the Clackman's game.  So that's all cool.  I just don't even stand a chance at this so it's not as fun.  :-/

+1  my thoughts exactly.

I agree. We would all be excited just to get in, then we would all hang out and chat while we waited for RNG, then congratulate the winner.

This...this is just plain death.

Can't compete with 3rd world internet.

This.

Although I did actually manage to post once while the thread was open.

With the right answer, but the wrong colour.  And far too late to win anyway.

Screen capture for posterity:

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
