Hello
« on: Fri, 26 July 2013, 09:51:38 »
Hello,

Just sayin' hi. Been lurking the boards for awhile and figured I'd join. Grew up with an IBM Model M and used it for 20 years until my room mates threw it out and bought me a rubber dome because it was too loud. I regret loosing that keyboard. Only these past few years have I gotten back to using mechanical keyboards. At first it was just one, then it was two, now it'll be three. Then I saw a sale on IBM Model M's.. so it might end up being four. This hobby is getting expensive. Anyway, glad to meet like minded people around.

Welcome to the forum!

A lot of interesting stuff being done with Model Ms by various listers, when you get that replacement for your long-lost keyboard I'm sure you'll have a lot of modification options.   ;D

Floss mod! Just in case you didn't already kill and dispose of that roommate and replace him with a rubber replica. That would result in a lot more quiet too. :p

HAHAHA awesome!! The funny thing was that this happened 10 years ago and I was at his house about a month ago and it looks like he bought a mechanical keyboard. For me at least, buckling springs seemed to feel more satisfying than the cherry switches.

Definitely going to run through some of these mod projects on this site. Very interested in the Teensy micro-controller.

I tried to get my school to replace the entire computer lab with mechanical keyboards. Unfortunately, that was beyond the school's budget.

Welcome to geekhack!!!

Silly room mate, I would've hooked up a mic and amp next to my BS and typed out a book just to make him mad ;)
