both of them are still very different.
also the pure is pcb mount compared to the platemounted mid.

to be honest, just buy what ever you feel like.
you will probably end up with more keyboards anyway.

I know, but i on't think i'll be able to get a second one anytime soon, so it has to be the right choice. i might actually buy 2 switches (blue and white) from qwerkeys....cant afford another mistake

I say kbt pure. More options with keycaps down the road cause that is inevitable :)

You already chose. You are subconsciously choosing the kbt pure

I think I'm leaning towards the pure....but i dunno if I'll like it....and if i spend 120€ on that, i'll have less money for caps :(

Yup. Looks like I'll be getting the pure :)
Since i already have a "normal" keyboard, this one will be nice.
If i get enough money, next year i'll get a tkl, maybe a wasd v2 with clears :)
btw, since the pure is pcb mounted, can you change the switches without soldering?
also, how does the bump on whites feel? like the blues one or more like the browns'?
thx  :D

If you're worried about money, the Pure will end up costing you more since you'll need a Tsangan kit/old Cherry keycap set for the short right/1800 right shift.

Since you are looking at a backlit model, you would have to desolder the leds in order to pull the switch caps.
wut. i'd buy a ****ty IBM board for that green V2

This is where try before you buy and/or generous return policies come in really handy but not everyone has that option.

Of course you could always try to find a fellow GH'er in your region of the world that you could possibly meet up with.

Get both ;)

Or just the QFR.

You can trick out the QFR - have a look here and see if you think any of those are cool :D
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

In what mx switches have you typed?
Buckling Spring?

I've typed in BS, MX blue, MX black, MX clear, MX brown, MY "normal", MY "no spring" and can say a few things:
BS - good hysteresis, loud sound, overall nice to type and navigate.

MX blue - wrong hysteresis (and don't like the up bump), loud sound (too "thin" with thin caps), overall nice to type, not nice to navigate.

MX black - no hysteresis , low sound, overall nice to type and navigate, maybe a bit too strong spring.

MX clear - good hysteresis , low sound, overall nice to type and navigate, stronger spring.

MX brown - good hysteresis , low sound, overall nice to type and navigate.

MY "normal" - no hysteresis, low sound, not nice to type or navigate, spring too strong.

MY "no spring" - no hysteresis, low sound, nice to type or navigate, maybe a bit too soft.

Personally I've been disappointed with MX blues, maybe because it is a PCB mounted board (G80-3000).

YMMV

I see you "need" the audible feedback  :)
I've used BS for many years (as I thing of it, around 20 in IBM 3151 terminals and later in PC), and the blues don't come nowhere near in typing quality and feedback.
My main boards now are mx brown (plate) and mx clear (pcb).
I dislike the cherry "clicks", but the tactiles are nice.
If you get the chance, try BS and mx clears.

Just get the Pure, why regret later for being a little bit cheaper? As for Model M wise, they aren't going anywhere. Unicomp sells a similar BS style, but honestly if you need mobility full size is really too much

I have a Pure myself. The build quality is very good, there is no PCB flex and the case feels very solid for plastic. If you get a non-backlit one with PBT keycaps (the later produced non-backlit models have PBT caps, see here) you won't need to buy anything for it ever. If you get a backlit one, the keys will naturally wear since they are transparent with a black paint coat. Oh and I would avoid the Pure Pro, you probably won't be able to find a fitting full keycap set for that, ever, for the normal Pure you only need a Tsangan kit.

Oh and if I need the numpad or something else, I have a Model M under the desk in a keyboard tray.

Most US QFRs are unbranded these days.  Other countries (including Australia) seem to have only branded ones (might just be old stock that has not been replenished).

If you do get a branded one, you could always get a replacement top cover if it really bothered you.

Although mine with MX blacks (silver case) is branded, and after swapping keycaps the remaining branding is not really that obvious.

Ok things have changed (again). Now the choice is between the poker 2 and the keycool 87 (pbt caps version).
Poker 2:
+compact layout
+i can add leds
+very good for traveling
+looks badass
-compact layout, don't know if i'd like it (ex. ****ton of keybinds in WoW)

Keycool 87
+safer choice
+very good looking
+comes with a bag!!!
+still possible to travel with it
-cant install leds

Also, i'd have to stay with stock caps for a loooong time (reason why i excluded the qfr), since i'll have to buy a new gpu, psu n ram....
this choice is so frickin' hard, cos i know that indipendently from waht i end up getting, i'll love it but ill immediately want to try another one!!!  :'(

This whole thread is nostalgic to me.

I have a Poker X which is still different from the Poker II, but still very similar. I love the layout that they provide with the Pokers. It really isn't hard to get used to and the build just feels great (I added a plate to my Poker X so it feels almost like a Poker II in theory). If you are okay with pressing an extra key for the function keys than I say go with the Poker II. They already come with PBT so you wouldn't be suffering that much with their stock keys (just that stupid as hell spacebar). The Keycool to me just looks cheap and unrefined. Over time you will probably be getting more boards as well (my plan after I finish paying off my laptop). So get the higher quality board because you will probably be settling on it for a bit.

I am going to get a Model M soon and will post my reaction when at first click.

The Poker 2 does not seem to have dedicated arrow keys.  That is the thing I miss most on my HHKB.

Think about how much you use the arrow keys and whether you are happy not only pressing an additional key to get arrow key functionality, but also learning where the arrow key substitutes are.  It has taken me a month or two (using standard layout boards at work and HHKB at home) to almost get used to the different arrows on the HHKB, and I still miss them.

I also have a KeyCool 87 (white with MX reds) and it is fine.  It seems lighter than my QFR, but that could be as it has MX reds whereas the QFR has MX blacks.

In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

You'll probably kick yourself later on if you do eventually end up getting both.

Maybe go with the safe choice for now, and experiment with alternative layouts later on.

If i were you i would get the blue. You dont know which one you like yourself, taking the cheaper way is better since theres 50 50 chance of you enjoy typing on the blue or not. If you enjoy the blue you saved some money from gettin the greens and clears. If you dont , then you just have to add some money to get another one instead of paying for the more expensive one and end up not liking it . The chance is you would liek the blue, there is reason why blue is one of the main stream swithes.

I went from wanting blues, to wanting browns, then buying reds, and then modding into ergoclears. At some point switch preference becomes something like clothes. It is whatever suits you for that day. I am getting a Model M soon, so I will get that audible and tactile goodness soon enough, but I still want a Topre.

Monitoring your money for all of it is the tricky part. Your collection will just grow and grow.

You will always have regrets about a keyboard you did not get.

Got HHKB 2 Pro yet?  See!

This gives you something to aim for when you feel there must be more than the keyboard collection you have now ;)

I just realized in a few days I will have MX boards in every common switch type except blues and greys.
