Leopold space bar problem
« on: Tue, 06 August 2013, 09:01:25 »
Hey guys,
Have some issue with leopold space bar, as far as I know the stem gap is different from the one in filco (leopold 42.5 apart and filco is 50 apart i think)
thing is I have some custom keyset (CCnG and retro set) ; the CCnG has the stem at 40 apart and the retro has 50 apart
do you think its better to reposition the CCnG one by cutting it (which I dont know how since my dremel has big cutting disc)
or get a stem from unused keycaps and just plug it on the retro set

or do you guy have any other solution?
I really wanna use either of the set ; else I'll have one of it collecting dust in the cupboard :(

Don't know where you're from but you can find that at Walmart, Target, CVS, Walgreens, etc. It's just removable tack that you use to put up posters and stuff on your walls.

Does it work for you?
can you feel the difference?
I've been tinkering around with something like double tape, or rubber feet from my handy box
none work since I can really feel the difference especially using blue switch, the clicky just gone

I haven't tried it yet. When I do I'll share my thoughts on it in my review.

Actually problem fix !
I tried using different kind of similar stuff to Blu Tack but it just doesn't feel the same
since my retro space bar has 50mm apart stem only, I decided to cut some stems from leftover keycaps and add it to the space bar

with a bit of dremel, sanding and glue work

I have complete step by step picture on the making, but not sure if it would help others since its so basic :D

Hey - a good use for those unwanted crap bag keycaps!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Based on that picture, I'd say FC200R. The universal spacebars that are sold work for the FC200R. FC700R?

They don't work on the 700R. I bought one specifically to try myself. It doesn't fit. Stem spacing still off.
