The Qnix looks sexy! Did it just release?

Well, it became popular in around March. I picked mine up around April or so. They're pretty much the only affordable OC'able 1440p monitors right now, and the colors out of the box are unparalleled. It's quite the steal atm

No problem. Turns out most high res panels require DVI, which my laptop doesn't have, so I think I'm out of luck for now anyways.

You don't want to use an adapter? I'm sure you can use a DVI to VGA adapter.

Apparently a lot of the Korean panels are pretty picky and all but require dual link DVI. I got an offer for a U2410 though, and  that works with VGA.

DVI is much better than VGA, in the long run your investment will pay off if you purchase a VGA to DVI adapter, and get a nice monitor. VGA to DVI adapters are like $5 on ebay :P.

Those "DVI to VGA" adapters that are $5 are VGA to DVI-A  which is to say 1 analog connector type to a different analog connector type.  It doesn't make it a DVI-D signal.

Yep, plus they are VERY finicky about even using a single link dvi cable, so you can try your luck with a dvi-vga adapter, plus the signal lost in converting between digital and analog, and the 1600x1200 issue some people have with vga signals not going 1080p, and well I could go on with a list of issues people have doing this, but you could get lucky!

Yeah, I've just come to terms with the fact that unless I get a desktop out here, I'm not going to have a huge monitor anytime soon. Why do they make laptops with VGA instead of DVI in days like these?

Do you not have an Hdmi / mini-Hdmi  or DP / Mini-Dp port on your laptop? Only the Vga port?

hdmi and vga should be fine till 1080p, but 1440p requires dual link dvi or a display port(i think active?)

You could always pick one of these up for great customer service:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/search.asp?keyword=ips+monitor

They have versions with multiple input options.  I highly recommend not using VGA for your signal, as the difference in quality is noticeable (colors are more dull through VGA and sharpness not as good).

I've got an HDMI port, but I don't know if it works- the last time I tried to use it I had a lot of trouble. Although I'll probably try it, because I definitely notice the difference between VGA and DVI.
