Sweat resistant mouse mat?
« on: Wed, 11 September 2013, 11:22:03 »
I have really sweaty palms so cloth pads start to smell/fall apart pretty quick.

Are there any that are more water resistant, or perhaps a hard pad that's not so slippery/better for control?

SS Experience I-2, the matte glass isn't very slippery, it's easy to clean and sweat won't dissolve it.
It's a bit expensive, but I'd say it's worth it. If I didn't like having a deskmat so much I'd be using mine pretty much all the time.

I think this has been discontinued. :/

I haven't had any issues with sweat or water spills soaking into the Hayate Samurai mouse pad.

If you sweat a lot then I actually don't recommend hard pad, it will just feel uncomfortable.

What I'd suggest is maybe look into PureTrak Talent from what I've heard it's machine washable.

Or like Greystoke said Artisan mouse pads are usually pretty sturdy and can withstand some beating.  If you go with Artisan you'd want to look into Zero, Hien, Hayate (slow to fastest).

I've just heard a ridiculous advice. If you're sweating a lot, just use peroxide on your hands every now and then.

Umm, aren't you guys using your computer's indoors?  And if so, why isn't the Refrig.-AirConditioning running?

The roccat hiro is water resistant, and maybe the megasoma 2 (from Razer) too

Do you know people with sweaty palms? It has little to do with the temperature.

Are there any with the smooth feel of a cloth pad but water/sweat resistant?

Probably one of the Artisan pads, the old SS 5L would fit the bill but sadly they don't make it, or any pads like it, anymore. I loved mine, I still have it, but the surface is pretty worn out now.
But if you want something that can deal with constant moisture in the long run you'll want something either plastic, or rubber like the Megasoma, or a washer-friendly cloth pad could do the trick.

Huh, I figured at least one of the artisan pads would be fairly resistant, but I haven't tried any myself yet so I may be wrong in my assumption.

The one I have has had water spilled on it, solder spatter, food, and modeling clay.  Everything wiped off, no residue or staining.

Okay, a little modeling clay is embedded in the surface near one edge, but I haven't actually spent much time trying to clean it, a simple wipe off with a paper towel has been enough for 99% of the cleaning.

Currently have the Artisan HAYATE Japan Black Medium Mouse Pad and that baby is perfect.  No amount of dirt, skin or sweat (not that I have even perspired enough) gets absorbed in to it.

Just get an Artisan and watch all your enemies perish with extreme prejudice  :thumb: .
