ducky mini is Nordic only?
« on: Thu, 12 September 2013, 01:35:26 »
is this for real? I was reading on reddit that the ducky mini will only come in Nordic Iso.  is that true?

Ducky Nordic employee confirmed this on a popular Finnish BBS, it's nordic only project and only with ISO.

Most other 60% keyboards are ANSI only, so why not a keyboard with ISO layout for a change?

I think the Ducky Mini doesnt have reactive backlit. It has backlit yes, but you can switch it either on or off...thats all...its not a "Shine". In fact its a Poker II with installed LED's.

Pretty much, but there aren't very many pokers with ISO :3 It also supposedly fits poker cases, if only ducky churned out their pbt sets out asap

I doubt this. Please link/cite your sources.

LinusTechTips did a review at Computex that had a ANSI Pure Layout. And their Facebook has an ANSI layout shown. It's possible that they had a one off made for them. But it doesn't make sense for Ducky to allow LinusTechTips to do a review with an ANSI board if they planned on releasing it for only ISO.

Check out this thread. And the LinusTechTip video is below:

I believe they're releasing *BOTH* ISO and ANSI layouts. Not just an ISO layout.

Everything is possible, however here's a ducky nordic reps quote

Ducky mini is Ducky nordics own project and for now it seems it will not be available anywhere else in the world, just in nordic countries. It's only a limited edition and there might not be another round.

It says that it's an own project of ducky nordic and they will only be sold in scandinavia (+ finland). It's also limited edition, and there won't be any more them coming (which is stupid imo)... Use google translate to get more info if you want to.

Thanks for the link guys.

I'm going to PM the Ducky Nordic rep we have here as well as ShakeR, who works with Ducky a lot at MechanicalKeyboards.com. I'll post what they have to say here when I hear back.

Got a response from ShakeR. For those who don't know, he's the owner of MechanicalKeyboards.com. They are one of Ducky's North American primary distributors if I recall the little plaque correctly.

From ShakeR's PM:
Quote
Ducky will not restrict the Mini to Scandinavia

Seems silly to invest all this time and effort into a board to restrict it to one region, like I said in a previous post. ShakeR also said Scandinavia might be *first* but they won't be the only ones who can buy the board.

Hmm, interesting. Well, I hope then that this is not the last shipment of those ISO Minis, it's possible that I can't afford one this time.. I hope that there will be more of them in the future if I won't get one now.

Ducky Nordic is doing a wonderful job in providing us Northern Types with a bigger range of boards to choose from. But the irony is that the Ducky Nordic batch of the G2 Pro with MX Whites also turned out to be just like in the rest of the world, i.e. sporting MX Clears, in spite of assurances to the contrary on both the aforementioned MuroBBS thread (http://murobbs.plaza.fi/yritykset-ja-jalleenmyyjat/880826-ducky-59.html#post1711580381) and at Deskthority (http://deskthority.net/marketplace-f11/ducky-nordic-keyboards-keycaps-projects-and-misc-stuff-t4718-360.html). Teraset confirmed that while "clicky whites" had been requested from the factory, the whole batch was in fact clears. That kind of explains the "Cant even hear the click, its so soft" statement on Deskthority... So for now we might need to take the "special Nordic batch" statements with a grain of salt until proven otherwise. But as the Finnish proverb says: rapatessa roiskuu! Hopefully Ducky Nordic will keep up the good work in spite of these minor communication hiccups. That said, can't wait for the other guys to catch up on the MX Green front too. Meanwhile, to Mini or not to Mini is indeed the question.

Will I be able to buy it from a store in Sweden or Denmark, or will I have to mail-order it from Teraset in Finland? ...
