Siemens-Nixdorf: worth anything?
« on: Sat, 14 September 2013, 16:06:57 »
I just found a listing for a weird looking board, but I can't seem to find any info on it....

This is a Siemens-Nixdorf KB, French ISO, well kinda if you look at the vertical Enter and the stepped keys to the left.

The spherical keycaps are intriguing to say the least, this was probably made in Germany, is there any chance I might find Cherry switches underneath?

It was a Nixdorf that had those, but I'm not sure if it's this one. I don't think it is..

On the off-chance this is the case, I'm willing to spend a few euros and a little time to find out!

Actually no.. It won't have them. The PCBs that did have them had 119 switches total. That one has 104.

Were those only ever stuck on 1 pcb?
I'm probably gonna end up with yet another RD I guess... oh well.

AFAIK yes, the keyboard was advertised as 'Soft Touch' and the PCB looks like this :

Well... I give you a 99% chance that its just a rubber dome keyboard. It already has windows keys, so it isn't that old. And I already have typed on some of these Siemens keyboards and own a FSC KBPC PX with very similar keycaps. They are not that bad, but not mechanical.
Gaming Keyboard: Corsair K70 MX-Red // Typing Keyboard: Filco Majestouch Metallic Blue MX Blue
NEO // G80 1000 HAD 07 // G80 3000 LQCDE-02 // Raptorgaming K1 // G84 4700  // G84 4400 PRBDE
G85 Barracuda XT // G83 13000 Cybo@rd // Cherry STRAIT // FSC KBPC PX // needs repair: HP Vectra KBD

Well, here it is, plain rubberdome. Only thing vaguely special is the detachable ps/2 cord.
