Synergy - Mouse and Keyboard Sharing Software
« on: Sat, 14 September 2013, 20:12:43 »
Hey all, I recently started using Synergy, a mouse and keyboard sharing software.  I use it with both my macbook air on mac os x and my windows 7 pc. It works like an extended dual monitor setup over your home network. Works amazing, check it out!

I use Input Director. It does the same thing and is free. Just pointing out another option. I have it setup that when i scroll off my main screen to the right it will transfer over to the other computer.

Oh nice, the one I use works between both a mac and pc.  Does yours also offer this feature? I have to say it was kind of a pain to set synergy up.

Synergy is nice. My father's been after me to make this work for ages since he has an old XP machine he needs to keep alive for work. I just wish it wasn't hosted on Sourceforge with misleading ads all over the download page. :\

+1 for Synergy.  I used it daily for a long time to share mouse/keyboard between a Mac and a PC.  Fun fact: its original author is a coworker of mine.

I actually used a hardware switch in the past but these programs made it way easier. Also the mess of cables i had for the kvm is gone. I also use remote desktop which also works really well.

Synergy certainly does rule.  I recall even being able to copy/paste between mac and windows.

I've used it to good effect in the past, however I replaced my old setup with a single PC w/3 monitors setup.

The ability to drag windows to all screens is very useful :)

I've been using Synergy for years back when I was on Windows and now use it on my iMac and Macbook Air. Sponsored the Open Source project twice now since I use it almost every day. It's a great solution.
