Looking for help to get GH60 HHKB layout
« on: Tue, 17 September 2013, 03:20:23 »
Hi,
I own a few cherry brown keyboards, and one HHKB Pro 2. I love the cherry switches, enjoy typing on the HHKB, and MUCH prefer the HHKB layout to any other design.

I noticed that there is a GH60 with a HHKB layout, and I'm willing to do what it takes to get a few of them. (I'm also looking for keycaps and a case, but that's another issue.) Does anyone know when the next groupbuy will be? Alternatively, does anyone know where I might obtain some GH60 HHKB layout PCBs? I like the HHKB, but feel that cherries allow greater control over the precise timing of key activation. I've seen the KMAC Happy in pictures, and I'm pretty confused about how people enter the ~ character. I guess the KMAC Happy is the next best thing, but I'd much prefer a GH60.

Since this is the new members section and I've never fully introduced myself to this forum, I'll add a little intro:

I'm a software developer located in Hong Kong. My main use of a premium keyboard is for programming, entering commands, chatting and managing windows. I use a Steel Series 3 button mouse. I'm an Xmonad (and Debian) user. My ideal keyboard is probably an aluminum case over a GH60 HHKB layout PCB, with Cherry MX brown switches and dark gray PBT keycaps (including the space bar). Actually I would like a titanium keyboard with titanium (and textured) keycaps, because I think it would last practically forever - but I don't think that will happen anytime soon. I enjoy both Topre and Cherry MX brown switches (I haven't tried clears yet). I think the Cherries give me a bit better control, but I really enjoy typing on my HHKB. The thing that pisses me off about the HHKB is the fact that it uses rubber domes (double tapping and precise timing of activation is more difficult), and the fact that the space bar is not PBT.

GH60 isn't even in the production yet. The organizers are still testing out on the prototypes.
There will be people selling their spots from the GB. you just need to check the GH60 Groupbuy thread regularly.
