Back then, we had a tournment :-) that was streamed with a camo filco as prize... provided by our friends at KeyboardCo....

Good times. Maybe we should get a mini tourney up? It was fun even though we were all at different levels.

damnn that's awesome! maybe we should have another tournament! xD it would be quite fun I think

Hey guys what do you think of the Starbow Mod?

It's basically a Mix of Broodwar and SC2 with the best elements from both games. This is NOT the SC2BW Mod you might know which is a simple 1:1 replication of Broodwar.

No more deathballs, no more warp ins, no more a-move Colossi but Reavers, Lurkers and new macro mechanics instead. There are also changes in the techtree. For example you need a twilight council to build stalkers, but now they have blink build in. In exchange you get dragoons from the Gates.

Here is a VOD of some progamers (MMA, Innovation, Crank) trying it commentated by Total Biscuit and the Mod developer:

http://www.twitch.tv/crank/b/494503596?t=3h33m10s

This looks so awesome and the gameplay is much more exciting than regular SC2 (reaver drops!!).

I hope they somehow can create a matchmaking system and a ladder. Then I will instantly switch although I will suck so hard at it :P

Yeah I watched a few games of it today and it looks really cool... Just a shame that there is no custom leagues... I feel like unless it can keep it's momentum it will just fade away years before we get custom leagues to support it

Yeah, proper matchmaking and ladder support is essential for the Mod's succes IMO. We can't go back 10 years to Broodwar times and manually organize custom games and forward the results to a webpage or something.

It's just to convenient to click the "Find Match" button and face an equally skilled opponent. Without a ladder to climb up there is no real reason for me to get better...

But let's hope for the best. Hopefully Total Biscuit keeps promoting it - I feel this helps a lot!

I just played that new map that everybody is so hyped about and to be honest it felt like utter **** to me, 0 balance and some super strange mix of BW + sc2. Maybe i will give it another chance some day but for now i really can't understand why everybody is hyping this **** so much.

it's actually really well balanced atm... what 'balance' problems are you having?

Like I said it seemed more BW than SC2... I wish they had kept the collosus as i feel it would make transitioning into late game protoss a bit easier vs mech but then I never played BW so its all very new to me...

Does anybody here have the skillz needed to make a nice decal for our Bnet Clan? Something in the classic orange/gray would look nice I guess :)

Yeah, I saw that, too. It got even bigger after the patch!

I guess Blizzard underestimated the number of players that came back after the patch to gain the new levels and try the decals. This obviously led to a even bigger number of players that found themselves in bronze due to decay, so their actions to change the league distribution achieved nothing.

Impressive how Blizzard managed to **** over a working system by introducing a decay mechanism nobody asked for without even informing the players. Of course people ar butthurt now.

I can't even imagine how frustrating it must be to be new in this game. You get placed into bronze and since it's so big you'll see no progress although you might actually get better. After a couple of seasons these people just say **** it and leave the game forever.

I think the first two promotions should be really easy so newer players get a feeling of progression and some kind of reward. Maybe they should just introduce two new leagues between diamond and master and promote everyone up one league to fix this.

This might shut up all those people stuck in silver claiming they are gold/plat material and face ex-Masters constantly ;)

Apparently according to a blue post on b.net forums they didn't actually make any changes to ladder distribution at all, even  though they said they would. Instead they just never mentioned it and worked on getting 2.1 out as fast as possible... and at the time of posting it 2.1 still wasn't live on all servers.
I think you can find the post on Reddit somewhere but the way its worded makes it sounds like they are planning on at some point making changes, but atm are just 'monitoring' it...

But yeah like you said, they totally ****ed there entire user base for no reason. Before they ruined ladder the only time anyone complained was the odd post on Reddit about how big masters league was... that was it... now I think it works out that Platinum league is what Masters league used too be... it's so dumb...

I can't access the bnet forums from work, so I can't see it.

But wasn't there a blue post yesterday claming something like "We're seeing an increase of promotions. Everything is working as intended."?

And now they are telling us they haven't implemented the fix? Are they straight up lying to us *flipping table*

Well I was diamond in WoL and early HotS and now I am basically gold, not that it bothers me.
This sucks more than anything that has ever sucked before.

It's silly... but leads to interesting games becasue neither you or your opponent has any idea who you are or how good you are... so instead of there being a meta game... everyone is just attacking constantly and for no particular reason lol

Well I have equal matches so far this season I've been 145W-137L, I am playing ex-diamond and sometimes masters though.
This sucks more than anything that has ever sucked before.

I just left the GH clan on EU to create my own clan to mess around with decals :p

In that sense this feature is kinda counterproductive, as you are basically forced to create your own clan if you want to use custom decals.

I am still a member of the NA GH clan though :)
