That seems like a great find. Can't wait to hear more about it.

They look like they could be Cherry M7 switches, perhaps the later variant referred to on the DT Wiki that had retaining clips on the sides.

Nice keyboard, those are beautiful keycaps!

Edit: Updated to reflect Cherry M9, not M7.   :D

Actually, using the Adler typewriter as a search term, your find looks like it may use Cherry M9 switches.

Quote
Additionally, the shell design of the MX switch is borrowed from the M9, including the shell retention clips and the four holes in the top used for releasing them.

Little else is presently known about the M9 switch, as it appears to be by far the least widely used of the three types. However, by 1984, with the introduction of the Cherry MX, this form factor became dominant with the immediate and rapid adoption of the new switch.

Sounds like a pretty rare find!

Cherry M9. It was their "low-profile" switch — same size as the successor the MX, but most of the switch is under the plate. It does look like a reduced size M7, but it introduced changes to the shell that were re-used in the MX (removable lid with side retention clips and holes in the top to release it).

I should be getting one or two some time this year that I can disassemble for the DT wiki, but feel free to beat me to it (you could even enter the photos into the wiki photo competition).

No idea what the keyboard is, though.

You can use the pics I took (and posted to DT) a while back, if you prefer, though they kinda suck..: http://imgur.com/a/1zBTQ

The switch stem is also quite different and longer.

Appears to be something from TA, there are several typewriters that have the same look, keycaps. M9 switches are pretty common in TA typewriters made in the early 80's before they switched to MX and then quickly to MY or worse for cost savings.
My guess is that it goes to some model of professional grade electronic word processor.

I guess I saw those before — I was sure I'd seen something that demonstrated that the M9 was the same inside as the M8.

Interesting — looks like Cherry M9 was popular for typewriters!
