Could use some advice/recommendations for a new keyboard
« on: Mon, 23 September 2013, 21:46:59 »
Hi, thanks for reading. As per the title, I have having some difficulty finding a perfect keyboard, at least one that is for sale for a realistic price. Ideally, I am looking for mx brown switches, full size, no backlights, and nothing fancy design wise. I had a cherry g81-3480 that was perfect in terms of being of very simple design. I have found models that meet these requirements by filco, cherry, ducky, leopold, and das off the top of my head, but I have not been able to find any of them for sale anywhere except for the das on amazon. Could anyone recommend any keyboard models or sites that meet those specs? My budget is ~$100 and I'm in the US for shipping. Thanks for any help, let me know if more info is needed.

Filco Majestouch 2 (not sure how much you can get it in the US), CMStorm Quickfire XT, Rosewill RK-9000
Keyboards: Topre Realforce 87UW 55g x 2
Mice: Zowie EC1 eVo CL x 2
Mousepads: Artisan Hien VE x 2, Razer Mantis Speed

Amazon has a Quickfire Rapid XT for 94.99, and it seems elitekeyboards only has the fullsize leopold with red switches. I'd say the Quickfire Rapid is your best bet.

Thanks for the suggestions. I missed the Quickfire Rapid XT when I was looking at the CM Storm boards. How is the quality of CM Storm? Not familiar with the brand. I'm assuming not filco but still pretty good?

XT and Rapid are same OEM as Filco (IIRC) so yeah, pretty damn good. Some of the more regarded cherry mx boards

Seems like newegg has the Quickfire Pro with brown switches for $80 but the design leaves something to be desired...http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemNumber=N82E16823129003

Reason I'm not suggesting filco is because they run at $140+ And would be well out of budget

Thanks so much for all the recommendations. I went with the rosewill rk9000, due to price mostly. I'm typing on it now. It feels wonderful; I'm happy with the quality so far. I greatly appreciate all the help.

I would have suggested the Rosewill myself. It's a solid board for the money, and their support is pretty good if something should go wrong.
