Just wondering what's the general usage impression is on these low profile keys.

I vaguely remember tp4tissue mentioned that he find the DSA surface too wide so he will hit the adjacent key sometimes.  But I've also heard good reviews from other people.  However I heard the keycaps on Cherry G80-3850 are low quality and tend to stick if not hit dead center.

Though I've tried Cherry G84-4100 (Cherry ML) before and I find I kind of like low profile keys.  Except that keyboard is meant to be compact so the key dimension is actually smaller than normal and result in feeling kind of crammed.

So what do people think about these options?  Also anyone know if low profile keys work with Costar stabilizers?

Personally I liked the low profile of DSA, I had no issues with missing/hitting any extra keys or anything. I'm excited to get the DSA dolch in hopefully in the next couple months.

I really want to try the G80-3850 but have gotten the impression it's not really worth the money.

And the G84-4100 is a nice keyboard if you want to use ML switches but it's not really comparable to an mx board.

And I don't know why low profile keys wouldn't work with costar stabs.

I find even the wire inside Costar stabilizers grinds a bit when you bottom out with Cherry Profile Enter key.  So that's why I was wondering about DSA considering it looks like it might have even less clearance, but I could be wrong.

Maybe I'll try it out on the next group buy.  :P

dsa IS a profile, it's not part of a profile.

it is medium height.

I don't like DSA. I have essentially a 60% set and the area of the top of the caps is too small for me. It makes me feel like I'm perpetually hunting for keycaps and I don't like that feeling.

I actually had the opposite impression. DSA was a bit jammy and the G80-3850 caps were nice. But they're pad printed and I started to wear the printing off.

I think the G84-4100 caps are the best of both worlds. Low profile and dye sub. Nice quality caps. If I had to choose between existing caps, I'd grab the G84-4100 board. If I could pick, I'd like the G80-3850 caps in doubleshot or dye-subbed flavors.

I never tried my DSA caps on a Costar board so I don't know if there are fitment issues.

Yup.. necros can be irritating sometimes, often better for the poster to start a new thread with a title that matches more accurately what they're posting about.

Anyway, about the G84-4100 caps, there are quite a few versions, the most common lighter coloured caps are lasered, all the dark ones are pad printed. You can tell from the letter codes after the "4100". If it starts with L it's lasered, P is pad printed, S is dyesubbed.

Also, I find the 18mm keyspacing makes me mistype due to how it scrunches the keys closer together.

The 3850 keycaps are made by Devlin. I wonder if they have the molds and holders to be able to do doubleshots with those bases. May be worth an IC / GB if they can :)

The lowest MX stem profile SP makes is actually DCS. Row 2 and Row 3 are lower than DSA.
