Shipping and when should I be concerned?
« on: Mon, 30 September 2013, 15:35:04 »
Hey guys, I'm going to try and make this as short and sweet as humanly possible.

I ordered a Keyboard off Qtan's store 3 weeks ago. The shipping information on my product STILL has not been updated and I'm just starting to get a little concerned.

I did in-fact pay for expedited shipping, which states 6-10 working days and yes it's only been 2 weeks up until this point but I ordered a keyboard from Qtan off his ebay store back in January and that came before two weeks and I also ordered a keyboard from mechanicalkeyboards and that came in just over 2 weeks also, so I'm just wondering...

Should I wait until Friday and then send Qtan a message to see if he can find out more about the shipping information than I can or should I just leave it? all I want is peace of mind that it's not lost in transit somewhere! >_<

I know there were some issues in China recently with shipping etc. I had a package take a couple weeks to actually leave the post office. But just shoot him a message he is a nice guy!!

I ordered my Poker II from Qtan the evening of 9/19, which would have been the morning of the 20th in China. It shipped that day via express service and arrived at my door on the 25th. I was concerned there would be a delay because there was a typhoon headed to where the boards are sourced, but this wasn't a problem at all.

It definitely sounds like you ordered before I did, so there's no reason you should not have received it yet. I would send him a message right away asking for a status update. If for whatever reason the package has not left China, you're not going to see any movement this week because it is a national holiday.

You're not in another country besides the US, are you?

I can vouch that he's a good guy as well. It took 1.5 months to ship my key caps due to mailing issues, but he ensures that it will get to you. Just e-mail or PM him.

I live in the UK actually! But I'll shoot him a message, hopefully it shouldn't be a problem.

There has been a china holiday recently. Think its still on; like the 20th Sept -> 8th Oct. So if you ordered in these dates then that maybe your problem? If you ordered earlier, it may have been caught up in the post office anyway.

But just email Qtan, hes a good guy round here.
unless they have some unforeseeable downside (like they're actually made of cream cheese cunningly disguised as ABS)

Without revealing too much of Qtans personal information is the e-mail the one that I got sent in my invoice e-mail?

which is: q****1*@gmail.com <- Would that be the correct email to contact him on?

It was mid-autumn festival in China on 9/19. The public holiday lasts 3 days but many Qtan took more time off?

Also the UK Post Office / customs can add a good 5-7 days to the shipping time.

I find that shipping information does not get updated outside the country of origin when I get stuff shipped to Australia.

That goes for stuff from various places in the US, and also a keyboard from qtan.

So a lack of shipping info update is not necessarily a bad thing - you might get a nice surprise one day soon :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Ah okay guys, well I've sent a little message to Qtan, hopefully he'll get back to me once he's back off Holiday if that is the case or whenever he has some spare time! Hopefully he has some good news for me! >_<.

Dealing with the UK postal system is a right pain. Everything I've sent there has taken 2 weeks at a bare minimum. I ordered an anime collectible. This was before PayPal. The money order took 4 weeks to get there and it took another 4 weeks for the item to arrive. All delays were on their end.

Now shipping to countries in the old communist bloc? No problems whatsoever. Go figure.

I would give your keyboard at least another 2 weeks before getting concerned and I bet Qtan will tell you something similar.

Well he said he'd look into it for me and I mean I've got two keyboards here that I can use in the meantime, Noppoo Choc Mini with Reds but it has chattering issues and a Keycool 84 with Blacks which I hate. I'll just wait it out and see if Qtan can find anything more in regards to shipping for me.

But thanks anyway guys for the advice and what not.

a Keycool 84 with Blacks which I hate.

Racist.  :p

I don't like MX Blacks either. If I want a switch that requires a strong press to activate, give me some more feedback than just the key bottoming out.

I just hate how resistant the switch is, I got the keyboard because I've got a few friends who have blacks and they like their keyboards and at the time it was either that or blues and I've had blues before and too loud and too clicky for me, so I went with blacks.

HUGE mistake.

You ordered the Browns right? Once it arrives I think you'll be happy with it. I sure am with mine. Adding 40A-R O-rings (blue color from WASD keyboards) has dampened the noise from bottoming out but not the overall appeal of typing. I tried the thinner red O-rings and while the feel improved slightly, it was not enough for the tradeoff of bottoming out more.

If you still have an MX Blue board, have you considered adding O-rings to it. It makes the noise much more bearable. I've even thought about getting another Poker II so equipped, but I think even with the dampeners it would annoy my wife and co-workers. I've had no complaints when using the softened Browns.

I ordered Reds my friend, Keycool 84 /w Reds! I love Reds, my favourite switch by far!
I've always wanted to try Browns though, I think I should of got them instead of reds but like I said, reds are my favourite switch. I've tried reds with 40A-R, it wasn't bad, less bottoming out too. Might give it a go at some point in the near future.

I've got blacks and I love them :)

I'm curious to try greens, as two (three now) of my other boards have blues and I like the clicking, if only it was a bit more like the Model M

Feeling your pain mate, I have two parcels that I'm waiting on from the US and I'm starting to think they've both dropped off the face of the earth. Most parcels arrive in a fornight tops but I've been waiting on my Klaxon set and a package from Thinkgeek since the first week of last month :(
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.
