Righto, small update here.
I've gotten in touch with Kirsi at Teraset.net and they had this beauty of a ISO thick PBT layout available:
- In a full 105 key layout though.
The board I'll be using it for is the above mentioned black filco tenkeyless with cherry mx blues.
Anyways, as a compulsive keyboard hoarder I had another shipment come in yesterday which was the white Keycool 84 with thin pbt keycaps.
Unfortunately the keycool was extremely warped. I had one already which had a very slight rattle to it that i fixed by sanding down one of the sides, but this new one is way beyond what you can fix with sandpaper. Anyways, I got to feel PBT keycaps for the first time, and wow. There are many things which are hyped and turn out to not be quite what they are cracked up to be. These were thin PBT keycaps, and were just about the most pleasant typing sensation that I have ever felt. Supposedly the thick are even better? needless to say I can't wait until my package arrives with my new babies.
I also had a little bit of a dialogue with the Vortex guys via their facebook page. As mentioned earlier in this thread they seem to be launching some new PBT ISO sets now, and I asked them about availability etc.
He said I should contact the people at KBTrace.com as they are the ones who handle the european distributions.
I haven't gotten a reply from KBTrace.com yet, but it would be interesting to see what is going to be released and at what price. I have used a completely plain set of keycaps before, and allthough it works fine as long as I'm just typing, when I enter numbers (keep in mind this is a tenkeyless) for my bank account passcode etc, it can be a bit of a pain in the ass. Therefore I think in the future I'll likely land on some mixed set of keycaps to achieve typing nirvana.
Sorry for the wall of text, but hopefully this can be of some help to others who are in the market for thick PBT iso caps.
