Anything I can do with an old Apple StyleWriter?
« on: Wed, 09 October 2013, 06:23:08 »
I salvaged an old Apple StyleWriter, first generation (Wikipedia article)
It is a 360 DPI slow ink-jet printer with an ADB interface. No computers with ADB have been made in the last decade and now there are phones and tablets with higher resolution.

Anything useful I can do with it?

Case-mod for a modern printer?
I was thinking of reusing some of the plastic for a project, but I am not sure.

If it was dot matrix, you could still use it as a printer.  lol

THAT IT WOULD. ANY CLASSIC MAC WITH AN ADB PORT (POWER MACINTOSH G3 OR EARLIER) WOULD WORK WITH THAT PRINTER.

Too little compelling reason too late. Part of the top front edge of the printer is now the bottom front edge of my Phantom. The thickness and angles matched...

Ultimately this is probably the best you could have done with it anyway.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
