I don't know but the detail put into the model is enormous. It's not uncommon to see $100-500 anime models. :|

I was watching some LoL Streams when i stumbled across this guy http://www.notbuschmodeling.com/

He streams the process of making some of his work, Did a Vi Sculpture that was amazing to watch from start to finish (bits and pieces anyway) it makes you appreciate the amount of work that is involved in these pieces of art.

I've noticed the figure industry seems to have a formula:

Likelihood of making a figure = 1 / Likelihood of Hak Foo wanting figure of character.

Although admittedly, my taste is more for the 1/8 anime figures, why can't I get a decent Scar (Fullmetal Alchemist) or Grell (Black Butler)

A member of GH is asking this?!?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Life-size Vader bust, with removable helmet:

Does it come with optional eyebrows?  ;)

I too do Star Wars prop replica collecting and building in 1:1. My friends in that sphere think that I am weird for collecting and rebuilding computer keyboards... Then I tell them that if I would have collected prop replicas in the quantity that I collect keyboards, I would spend much more money. Keyboards is the cheaper hobby of the two.

sideshow is absolutely amazing. their sculptors are unparalleled. back when comicon was a thing you could actually go to, their booth was _always_ a highlight of the con floor.

to all the brilliant friends who have left us, and all the students who climb on their shoulders.

Not really a fan of the 1/6 scale action figures. They look great in photographs, but in the flesh they look as classy as any Chinese-made toy. The details are nice, but that doesn't make up for a lack of poseability or an unimaginative character designs. I don't really get why people would pay $100 or even $50 for Sideshow's figures. The trend of bigger, more detailed action figures is nothing new; Hasbro have been doing it since 1963 with G.I. Joe. I doubt any 12" Joe ever retailed for anywhere near $100 new.

I don't really get your argument here; Unique designs? They are based of characters people want to collect. usually the most popular from comics and movies. They are completely poseable, more so than any GI Joe or 1970's star wars figure. These are way more detailed and higher quality than what you are referencing. All of your arguments against have no basis.

Also check out SOTA Toys. Used to have a badass Cthulhu resin statue by them. The thing was pretty big and weighed as much as a microwave, but it was stolen by an exroomate when the prick moved out.

There is nothing Chinese looking about their stuff. I've been inside their offices and all their collectibles are amazing.

That one is from United Cutlery, not Sideshow.
By the way, I liked Master Replicas' "Finger of Sauron" from about seven-eight years ago. The ring was smooth with no script engraved. There was a motion sensor so that if you came close script lit up inside through the surface. The effect was really good. :)

There used to be a store that sold movie prop replicas and Sideshow's polystone figurines near where I used to study, and I knew the owner so I hung around that store quite a lot. Unfortunately, because I was a college student, I couldn't afford much of it at the time. I bought a lightsaber replica from him with my first paycheck after college. :)
