« on: Thu, 18 December 2008, 21:12:58 »
hi, i just bought the g80-3000lscrc-2, really great keyboard except for 1 very annoying thing : the spacebar is SO HARD to press!!!!!! it takes 3 to 4 times the force of the other keys!!!

So i would like to know if someone has a solution for this.....
and i would like to know how to remove the space bar to see whats under it to look for a solution.

I had this problem with my Compaq MX 11800, the spacebar uses a higher force switch. One solution would be to swap the switch (or just the stem and spring) with one from a lesser used key. You can remove the spacebar with a pair of paper clips. Here is a guide to taking a Cherry switch apart:

:( it didnt fixed my problem!!!
if i switch the green mx cherry under the soacebar for a blue one 50% of the time the spacebar wont even spring back.... so i replaced back the green one...

so the problem is probably in mechanism to keep it straight.....it feels really spongy...so i dont really know what to do now....

HOLYCOWBATMAN: I have the same 'board as you. I don't notice any problem myself. Remember, the spacebar is used more than than any other key on the 'board. That is why it's more sturdy.

After removing the keycap, check if the level mechanism goes freely. It should just fall down by its own weight. If that's the case one of the holes for the level mechanism could be off. Are the two plastic thingies parallel? Do all connectors line up correctly with the holes in the keycap? Could be a production fault.
