Hmm. Not a very nice nor an objective title
I have seen batches and batches of Duckys and overall quality has been very good. Very clean soldering, good firmwares, lotsa functions on boards without any kind of software install. Ducky Shine-series are manufactured in Taiwan.
Sorry to hear ur keycaps have some spatter on them. I think if ud just send those pics to overclockers.co.uk they will send u replacement caps. Might take a while but its not like the original caps are unusable meanwhile. I think it would require as much effort to write email about replacements than to write this kind of post on forums.
About the other keyboards where u also have some concearns:
- Mushy backspace or space bar - Pls lube the stabilizers. Its a common practise and you can improve the larger keys feel. This is not a brand specific issue.
- "Light keypress, inconsistent click across most keys" - Hmm, u were talking about the MX blue switch here. Its not the keyboard PCB, chassis, controller or keycaps or the build that can make this kind of inconsistency happen. That would mean the inconsistency would be in the switch itself. Cherry supplies the switches in big boxes. I dont think any brand has assembly lines that have personnel or a robot clicking every switch with weights and reading accurate results before mounting it. There is some level of trust towards Cherry ofc altho the switch feel across different Cherry production batches have been said by some to be having minor discrepansies as well. The keyboards are tested across so that every key functions after its been built. This testing doesnt guarantee 100% flawless coming in mail to every home as they then travel by air/sea/trucks thru countries and hubs/distys/resellers before they reach you. Thats a lotta box tossing at many stages.
Hi Ducky Nordic
After experiencing three keyboards having these air bubble/space bar issues i thought i would at least share my experience since three Duckys is a good amount to own.
I may just have had a run of very bad luck with the air bubbles and space bars feeling inconsistant, but out of the box brand new i would sorta think the space bar shoudnt be this mushy/hard on my Shine 3, the space bar will also get stuck sometimes. The space bar is the main reason why the keyboard is unusable and needs to be returned.
Is it required to open the keyboard to lube the stabilizers?
I understand the inconsistency is at the switches level, but some batches of MX Blues feel too horrible to accept. My Shine 2 Chinese version with MX Blues has some of the worst feeling MX Blues and it really ruins the experience of typing on them, for that reason its sitting in the closet until i have time to replace all 108 switches.
Mine is fine. You got a lemon... Is it only the keys that your not liking or overall construction?
Its mainly the keys and different feeling spacebars. I'll try to list all the issues i've had in a bit more detail.
- DK9087 Shine 2 MX Red Red Led - Had several keys with air bubbles on it along with a small crack in the alt key. Mechanicalkeyboards.com send replacements for this and its all good now.
- DK9008 Shine 2 MX Blue Red Led - Had again several keys with air bubbles and a few with scratches on them, Mechanicalkeyboards.com sent replacements for it also and its perfect now. - this is my favorite one since the space bar is smooth and the MX Blues are crisp.
- DK9008 Shine 3 MX Blue Red Led - More keys with air bubbles this time, along with a spacebar thats ultra mushy, and gets stuck sometimes. The capslock key also gets stuck for some reason.
- DK9008 Shine 2 MX Blue Red Led/CHN - Inconsistent clicking MX Blues, very loud awkward spacebar. I still never fixed this one, but it doesnt matter since it just sits in the closet now at this point.
The main thing i dont like is that the spacebars feel different even on the same model keyboard, and it completely ruins the flow when typing.
