Where Are The Ducky/Vortex OEM Profile Thick PBT Made?
« on: Fri, 15 November 2013, 18:42:21 »
Well since we're constantly dealing with various keycap vendors for all types of keycaps.  I also noticed that Ivanivanovich ran a few group buys with imsto for Thick Cherry Profile PBT keycaps.

Now I'm wondering where did Ducky and Vortex get their Thick OEM PBT from?  Since there really isn't a stable source for thick OEM keycaps yet.

So far we only have:

Ducky:

Ducky DK9008G2 PRO Mechanical Keyboard (Need to buy full keyboard)

Vortex:

Poker II (Again need to buy the full keyboard, and even so it only has keys for 60% keyboards)
PBT Double Shot With Red/Green/Light Green/Pink/Blue On White (This seems like a limited time item and blue ran out of stock, which happens to be the one I want)
PBT Double Shot With Inverse Color Mod (No one knows when this will come out)

But yeah I could be wrong but I kind of suspect they're from the same factory.  Development for those things are expensive so I doubt there would be 2 new factories doing it at the same time (since they both came out around similar time).

So what do you guys think?  I mean I don't want to piss Ducky or Vortex off, but sometimes waiting for them to come out with keycap sets do take quite a bit of patience...  =_____=

Would be cool if we can arrange a group buy on this or something.

:P

lol yeah I was tempted to buy this set because it's so cheap and is exactly what I'm looking for.  But blue being out of stock is a dealbreaker for me.  :(

I'll take my chance and hopefully they'll release this in blue later lol.

I'll buy them again if Vortex has windows logo and "ctrl" instead of "control".

I'd buy em' if their legends didn't make me want to cut myself so bad. Ahh.

Owner of a Dk9008 pro g2 here ^_^ the caps that come with it are some of the best keys ever. I have bought a few different sets, but the stock and some other set  of pbt keys are the best. They are from imsto and kbc i think. I also have a set from EK and it all right its abs with pad printing :( i have few keys from SP i first i didn't get why people called them "crap bag" well i got it when i got my first keys that were made by them. They were my first and last ones. Once you get a good thick pbt with dye subed keys you can't go back.

I got some Thick PBT off of Feng on eBay. They are thick PBT dye-sub (imsto PBT?), and although they aren't quite OEM profile, they are pretty close.

I will be obtaining some of the Vortex Double Shot PBTs soon hopefully and will post an updated comparison then!!

On my board:

Nice pictures !  But yeah I have the imsto set too, it's the closest thing at the moment, too bad it's not OEM height.

I guess I'll wait patiently for the Vortex set then.  :3

They're Cherry profile. ;)
I believe that set you have is a leftover from this GB: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=31861.0

Pretty sure the Vortex set will be OEM profile.
