Ducky Shine 2 Shorting Out
« on: Sat, 16 November 2013, 09:36:48 »
Has anyone ever encountered their Ducky Shine 2 shorting out? I recently changed my switches and LEDs and this started to happen.

Similar to this:

It happened to mine yesterday (after changing the switches + LEDs) and I realized that the PCB was touching the pins on the bottom of the case where the USB PCB board was...all I did was cover it up with tape and it fixed it. This problem only occurred when the top case snapped into place - I am assuming it exerted too much pressure on the PCB? I already tried to put lining under the PCB and this still persists.

You know, I've had something similar happen to my new Shine 3 (no mods, never opened the case). For some reason, it "reboots", and occasionally I need to unplug the USB to get it to restart.

Not sure that it's the same issue, but I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this too.

Well...I tried taking out the USB controller and putting it close proximity with the PCB and the same thing happens. It shorts out. I'm thinking of putting some electrical tape on the controller to prevent any type of connection.

Well, I removed the solder on the LEDs and put less on them and I put electrical tape on the controller itself. It works fine now.
