Can someone comment on this keyboard
« on: Thu, 21 November 2013, 08:55:37 »
I found a white switch Compaq keyboard in one of our data centers and I was wondering if somoeone can tell me more about this keyboard. If someone can put a price tag on this keyboard that would be cool.

I think that is just a rubber dome with plungers.

Compaq keyboards of that era are nice to use and well-made, but nothing to get excited about.

Pull a key and take a photo so we can be sure.

Looks like a Chicony built rubber dome over membrane board.

I'm almost certain it's a membrane with those weird white plastics on top of rubber dome. I found one in a closet at work.

Made by NMB. (I realised that from the FCC ID before I even got the pictures at the bottom showing the characteristic sliders.)

Interestingly, that's in NMB's 6600 (low footprint) series — some NMB OEM boards have weird model numbers that don't fit their RTnnnn pattern (e.g. Dell RT7D50, Logitech Y-RJ20 (RT7R04)) — maybe one day I'll figure out the meaning behind these.

Good one Daniel.

It's a NMB Right Touch 6000 series. Low value$ but high end Rubberdome. New they can endure 5 years of intensive typist work.
The first key to go wrong on these is the backspace with a very distinctive problem. Press on a corner and the key stops before it actuate. You need to release and press again.

Some of the Dell Quietkeys have these type sliders on them, they are actually decent keyboards. I found some about a year ago NIB for really cheap so I bought a few...
