It'll likely be a 24ish hour long raffle sale on ctrl alt. Don't lose too much sleep over it.

I'm pretty ready but also quite a bit scared. My question is, does it start exactly 24 hours from 42 minutes before derb2k2 took the picture?

You have to be ready. Whether you're ready to win a dank bro cap or be ready for the disappointment of not winning and crying as you watch people post the caps they won :(

the more caps on your ticket, the more chance there is of something being available when you ticket comes up

so whilst it doesnt affect the chance of your ticket coming up, it does mean there is a greater chance of you getting 1 or more caps when that event happens

tickets are randomized

it then works through tickets first till last, if something is available, you get in

i then manually check all the numbers are correct before sending out notifications

i then manually send each notification to ensure everything matches up

we could automate more of it if we standardised more of the format

but having the flexibility we have for sales like this is worth the additional effort

the trouble with automating it all, aside from the fact we keep doing little parts of each sale differently, is we get a ton of user error which a completely automated system doesnt allow for

each sale we take steps to making the process better for the user, and we have huge updates for the sales today

another factor as to why i do a ton of manual work, is the huge number of people we get trying to manipulate the system each sale, most of which we could pick up software side, but that currently i feel safer managing myself

interesting, thanks

by user errors, do you mean stuff like entrants entering incorrect information into fields etc?

also that's a real shame that people are trying to game the system like that

I didn't win anything until I think my 5th sale, and that was back when there were less people entering. If you don't win this time, just keep trying. Bro and Bunny are great about having sales at regular intervals.

Makes me sad to hear this. Wish people would be a little more ethical. Also, this is another reason I liked when bro implemented (although short lived) the post count requirement.

Yes. All this. That's messed up that Bunny has to spend his free time culling through and making sure that people aren't trying to double dip.

yeah, that's a valid point. I'm surprised someone wouldn't let you have access to gh db to easily pull the count's, you could make that very automated. But it would take a little dev work and some  time.

another factor as to why i do a ton of manual work, is the huge number of people we get trying to manipulate the system each sale, most of which we could pick up software side, but that currently i feel safer managing myself

Makes me sad to hear this. Wish people would be a little more ethical. Also, this is another reason I liked when bro implemented (although short lived) the post count requirement.

honestly that just makes my work take so much longer, having to manually look up every name i dont know on gh to check posts was a ballache

yeah, that's a valid point. I'm surprised someone wouldn't let you have access to gh db to easily pull the count's, you could make that very automated. But it would take a little dev work and some  time.

Would you even need access to the GH database? The post count is actively visible on any profile page. There would still be some coding involved, but you could automate it to check for a minimum post count.
