Hey, pretty new to brocaps but I just got my first couple recently (lycan, cherokey, nightstalker) and really love their detail and design! However I did notice that the underside of the cap is designed to have a "slope" on one side of the cap while the other is "steep" (usually stock caps are just steep on all 4 sides).

Since all MX switches are made so that one side is "sloped" while the other is "steep" (as far as I know), it forces these bro caps to be set in the right-side-up orientation if you want it to fully seat. This wouldn't be an issue if the keyboard pcb utilizes the switches in that orientation, but some keyboards (pok3r) have the switches upside-down, so this makes the brocaps unable to be seated all the way down (unless its upside-down). Also if there is an LED, this also conflicts with the inner walls of the bro caps :(

So I guess my questions are: Is there a reason for this implementation, out of curiosity? And also if possible are there any plans to change this? I still like these caps regardless, but it'd be awesome if I could seat them down completely regardless of switch orientation and with an LED, least for future bro caps ;)

Extra thought: I did notice that bbv2s look like they do NOT have that slope and have a uniform wall arrangement from pics I've seen, correct me if I'm wrong

The latest iteration of MX compatible keys are designed for maximum thickness. Essentially the underside is the exact shape of the MX housing. This can pose an issue for some LED's, but you can typically trim an LED easily enough.
There will be a newer version with a dual-compatible stem soon, that will have a higher ceiling, and this wont be much of an issue.

I see, can't complain about having maximum thickness heh. This newer version sounds very promising though, looking forward to it!

Just got my Nightstalker today and it is a wonderful thing. I am experiencing the same thing with putting it on my POK3R (upside down switches). Did you mean it was possible to trim the switch for a better fit?

I meant you can cut off the top of an LED if it's interfering with switch actuation. Just make sure you dont do it too much, but you can get rid of the majority of the material on the top of the LED without destroying it.

The thing is even without the LED, the mx switch itself is "upside-down" so that it doesn't align with the bro caps inner wall lining (the pok3r pcb has the led hole in the North arrangement, vs the traditional south arrangement).

Ah yeah, upside down switches hmm. It should still actuate, but not ideal.

Yup it still actuates fine, there's probably just like a couple millimeters of stem sticking out. But I put artisans on keys I don't use anyways.

Talks about cutting the top of an LED (or multiple LEDs if you want to move the keycap around on your keyboard) rather than just shaving a little off the inside of the keycap.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

LED pennies, Bro Cap $40 - I know which I'd rather take a file to!

I've had a couple of Grumpkins on my Ducky and they are very tall, I'd never worked out why but this explains it - LED holes at the top.  They work just fine though.  Just checked where my Nightstalker will be going (GH60) and both top corner switches are that way too, pretty much every other switch is not :'(

I can't tell if they're just black or Star Cluster like sparkly, but I'm absolutely hoping for the latter.

Probably Star Clusters, Bro has posted a pic of a Star Cluster gamer set before!

Plus the Bro Fist is in the Start Cluster colorway.

Hi! Not sure if this is the correct thread or not, but I had a question about the N5 Nightstalker. I've noticed in recent pics posted, there are 2 different "Tru-Bro ID" cards for the cap (shown below). Just curious if there are 2 versions of the cap or if its just the cards that are different? Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask..

They are the same cap. Some were produced prior to the newer style of ID cards.

Random question; Does anyone know which Reaper V1s were available in Glow in the Dark? Ive been thinking of trading my Noxious GID for something that goes with Hyperfuse, but the only thing I can think of that is also GID is Whitewalker

Northern Lights and Test Subjest 22 should be GID...not sure about others. Maybe Interstellar reapers?

There was a GID OG, but I doubt whoever had it is going to let it go. Nvm thought it was GID i think it's just translucent.
