Hello,

Just letting you guys know if anyone in Canada is interested in getting a Topre keyboard but doesn't want to pay shipping for ordering from Elite Keyboards, NCIX has topre back in stock.

Well, it's still probably a great find of Canadians.  Since it's NCIX, they don't have to pay the crazy shipping cost from EK.   I dunno how bad it is, but I see Canadians complain about it.

Well, for an HHKB the shipping is 33$ and the duties are about 50$. You find yourself paying 340$ for an HHKB. So I would say it is a really great deal for canadians.

Ordered a white 104-key Realforce from NCIX. $303 in total. With shipping and tax from EK it would have been $100 more. So this is worthwhile for Canadians. I slightly wish they stocked the silenced model, but even the unsilenced one has to be a lot more sociable than my Unicomp Customizer. Looking forward to discovering whether Topre lives up to the hype.

I hope you really want the white one because the black one is cheaper @ 239.99. http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=86201&vpn=XF11T0&manufacture=Topre&promoid=1115

I'm still hesitating on this one: http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=86198&vpn=SE07T0&manufacture=Topre&promoid=1115

I see a Leopold FC660C. The vendor for it is listed as Elitekeyboards.

Yes, I wanted the white one since I had read about people being unable to see the labels on the black keys. For me having readable labels on the keys is a desirable feature.

Anyway, the white Realforce (model XF01T0) came today. My first impressions are very positive - it has the kind of feel I was hoping for. (At some point in the past I have used and liked a keyboard like this but didn't know what it was at the time.) I actually like the variable key weighting and realize that for the most part I do touch type so the lighter keys do fall under the appropriate fingers. The keyboard feels solid, the keys are nicely textured and the key travel is smooth (also feels quite long, but you don't have to push them all the way down).

The keys are quite high and the keyboard has a fairly steep slope to it, a bit like my Unicomp Customizer. It would be nice if they provided those legs that can be extended to half height as well as full height. Anyway, this is a nice contrasting feel to the buckling spring keyboard I have been using, and way quieter (which was the reason for buying it in the first place).

And I disagree with those who say that Topre just feels like another membrane keyboard, it really doesn't. It's a completely different feeling - smooth and solid. On this computer I was previously using a Microsoft Wireless 2000 keyboard and this is a totally different, and much nicer, sensation.

P.S. I have already typed "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" a few times by accident though.

if you can't read the grey topre keycaps, it's a good time to get glasses.  what am i saying...you're technically legally blind at that point; apply for a disabled parking pass ;)

for real, go get your eyes checked if you can't read those legends.

They probably are, but NCIX US does lots of weird skirting the issues like that.  For example, and from my understanding, BeQuiet! fans are Canada only, but NCIX sells BeQuiet stuff to the US.  There are a couple other things like that as well.

Of course, I would recommend anyone in the US avoid NCIX US.  The Canadian branch of the company is awesome, but the US branch is absolutely horrible.  They frequently sell OOS stuff and don't inform you, fail to ship, sometimes for a month or more, have horrible customer service, and so on.  It's sad because, from what I understand, it's great in Canada.

black on grey, you can't blame them at all, from the pictures it seems just a couple shades of difference
