Cherry G80-3000, black versus light grey: material of key caps?
« on: Tue, 10 December 2013, 14:39:15 »
From what I have found, it is:
- black: POM;
- light grey: PBT.

Is it still so for current G80-3000 keyboards?

Thanks.

yes, and the black POM caps (Cherry) are the most slippery caps I ever touched.

And that seals the NO deal. Thanks for sparing me a disappointment.

I was leaning towards the black model because I thought it would have been easier to resell in case I didn't like it.

I don't know where you're coming from, but considering you're on GH for 4 years probably a good board, but I'm coming from blackwidow (=ABS, I think?). BW has more slippery caps. Actually I don't find Cherry's POM slippery at all.

Hopefully, I will be able to tell you the difference between Cherry POM and HHKB PBT soon. Either way, it's not a bad board or unpleasant to the touch.

I touched a lot of keycaps in my life. And I don't remember BW caps as slippery. But it's a keyboard I am not interested at all. So my memory could be faint.

I would recommend in any case the beige variant with PBT keycaps. I compared black and beige many times and only the black POM caps feel slippery as hell.
For the feeling of typing I would choose the beige lasererd PBT keycaps over many other keycaps.
