Leopold Fc700r spacebar
« on: Sat, 14 December 2013, 18:40:55 »
As allot of people probably know, some genius at leopold decided to create non standard spacebar stabilizers for the above mentioned keyboard.
This is a real bummer, because the keycaps are the best I've tried, and after trying a few different switches from the leopold (red and brown) I wasn't as impressed with them as my ducky tkl blue switches.

However, I liked the look and feel of the pcb low profile keycaps way more than the standard abs fat ducky keycaps, once I transplanted them onto the ducky with the blue switches...WOW!
Not looking back.
Unfortunately I can't use the leopold space bar because it doesn't fit the standard ducky stabilizer. I've gotten around this by sanding down the original ducky space bar, but it just looks really cheap.

Is there anyway to get just a spacebar with the same profile as the leopold caps, with standard stabilizer fittings?

TL;DR
Leopold spacebar stabilizers non standard, want the same low profile spacebar (preferably pcb) with standard stabilizers

I mean the height of them is lower than your standard cherry profile.
So they're shorter, or skinnier. Like low profile tires are thinner than standard tires.
Did you know what I meant? Or were you just talking semantics?

How would you describe them? A cherry profile keycap with a shorter typing height maybe?

It's interesting because most modify spacebars to fit their Leopold as opposed to modifying Leopold's odd stemmed spacebar to fit the typical 6.25x spacing.

Your best bet Enthusedsock is to sacrifice some key caps you don't use to harvest stems off of, trim them, then epoxy putty them onto the Leopold spacebar so you can use it. The FC700R and FC660M key caps are the same profile, so in the case you don't want to mess up the spacebar of your 700R, you can buy a spare 660M set on taobao and tinker with it, chop it up, etc.

you mean cherry profile?

Leopold FC700R and FC660M key caps are really close to Cherry profile. I would describe it as a touch lower than SP profile with a flatter surface as opposed to the usual concave.
