WYSE terminal keys (cherry MX)

Dear all,

I recently purchased these keycaps from eBay UK: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310810871785?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

I am delighted, the keys are lovely but in order for the new set to work, I need the bottom row of keys, including a standard sized spacebar. Any ideas on where I may be able to source matching keys? OR what about a nice colour contrast?

I am fed up of all my FILCO stock keys wearing out within months, hence the change.

Yes, those will work perfectly with your Filco. That is the second revision of the WYSE Moogle set, and the organizers worked hard, with input from community members, to make this the "perfect" WYSE Moogle set. From the color selection to the legends and placement, everything about that Moogle set is designed to match perfectly.

It's the same profile. Comptec made the original WYSE keycaps, and SP acquired their assets:

Yeah... Crazy priced plus $9 international shipping. Let's see if they match up. Overall for me it's still a vintage/ vintage looking set for about £50.

I find them more often on German eBay, even in layouts other than German.

Yes I too know about eBay.de but haven't had much luck. To be honest, since being burnt a few times with overseas eBay transactions, I prefer to wait it out for stuff in the homeland, the UK, even if its cost just a few pounds more.
On the whole whilst the WYSE set I picked up is a little worn, for £28 including postage, I really can't complain. Of course a few years ago, when there wasn't so much interest in mechanical keyboards, I am sure such items were worthless, but then you must consider, they perhaps didn't even show up on eBay listings. It breaks my heart to think that there are double shot Cherry MX keys being thrown away due to their apparent worthlessness

Typed on my FILCO TLK (green LEDs) with a near complete WYSE keycap set!

Is WYSE not a great brand? Having used the keys for a day or so now, in their incomplete form, I do notice quite a lot of shine... I was always under the impression that double shots were the 'Rolls Royce' of keycaps... am I wrong? I think this set I have are made of ABS plastic.

Also I noticed when putting on the numpad, it has gone onto my wife's FILCO TK Browns, the Cherry clips did not properly seat in the underside of the keycaps, the single keys were find but I had issues with the ENTER and + vertical keys on the numpad in particular, so much so I had to mess about swapping Cherry stabilisers and cutting tiny pieces of paper, to ensure a night tight fit. Without the paper, the keys would have just 'slid' off, I am not being dramatic here, they were very loose indeed.

Have others experienced this with vintage caps?

ABS shines, regardless of the manufacturer.

ABS double-shots also shine, just the legends never wear off.

PBT does not shine, but there are very few PBT double-shot sets.

Loose stabiliser inserts are common - I use a small (~ 1cm) square of plastic ziplock sandwich bag over each one before inserting.  The plastic does not tear, and is easy to remove while still holding the insert formly.
