Did anyone see the new large-print Unicomp?
« on: Wed, 18 December 2013, 16:07:18 »

I, uh...  :-X Instead of this, why not offer something cool like anthracite gray keycaps (that would look killer with black keyboards)?

I do believe those keyboards were marketed for older generations whom probably cannot see the legends printed on the keyboard clearly. That said I really don't know to what benefits will that bring if one person is old and is probably facing arthritis for instance to be using a keyboard with possibly more stiffer switch.

Maybe also targeted at younger generations whom are facing the same issues (as not seeing things clearly due to near/far-sightedness) but may not have to deal with arthritis for instance due to their age.

More like, large print keycaps on one of their keyboards...
When they make a TKL, then they'll have something new...

PS/SL/PB/NL/PU/PD - confusing if you don't already know what they are.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Agreed. And the numpad is a complete abomination.

Otherwise, I love it. I would gladly order a set of these, even without vision problems.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

I am totally not surprised.

Look at their products. All conservative in design, uncool looking, dated. Their main appeal is to conservatives and geriatrics. Their core market of people who were middle aged in 1980 is now in their 60s.

They need a better marketing team.  Maybe find out what kind of products keyboard enthusiasts are interested in.

No they just need more budget for their R&D department.
