Programmer, Gamer, Tinkerer. I think I might fit in nicely
« on: Fri, 10 January 2014, 09:38:21 »
Hi Everyone

I am a Software Developer from Switzerland. I became interested in GeekHack when the GH60 GB started and have occasionally lurked around here. Recently my interest flared up again and I figured if I'm gonna be more involved here, I should probably say hi. So hi! :)

I am trying to figure out a good way of building a case for my KBT Oni and eventually my GH60. I love working with wood and I would love to machine one from a block of wood, but I fear I don't have the resources for this kind of project. So I might settle for cutting and gluing wood. I have some experience with wood working, but I still feel like a noob.

cheers

Welcome to GeekHack! I just got my hands on a GH60 Rev B prototype and I'm excited to play with it! Since you're interested in woodworking and cases, you might want to check these out:

nubbinator's thread about his wood 60% case

The_Beast's Vendor Forum where he sells wood cases and wrist rests

Thanks!

I actually already stumbled over the_beast's workings. It looks very good. I wish I had that kind of equipment.

Nubbinators case looks like what I will try to achieve. I am curious how to do it with a hand tool router. I don't have much experience with hand tool routers, unfortunately. but I am eager to learn about it.

Yesterday, I made a wrist rest from some scrap wood. as soon as I'm home, i will post a picture, it somehow has a particular pattern because it was 1.5 cm three-layer plywood, so the middle layer is oriented the other way round, and that shows.
