My Keyboard Sometimes Registers Letters twice! HELP!
« on: Wed, 15 January 2014, 14:52:34 »
It seems that my keyboard will double register letters from time to time. I have tried adjusting the key repeat speed and delay but it has not helped. It happens rarely but often enough that it gets pretty annoying. I'm using an LZ-GH but i'm going to switch keyboards to see if the problem persists. Im just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this problem. I'm using a Mac (take your bashing elsewhere please) and MX Greens. The problem doesn't always occur with the same keys either.

Any ideas?

Thanks
YM88

EDIT: This was meant to go in the Keyboard forum not Key Caps

That's called chattering. I don't know of a fix offhand, but one does exist.

Are you sure the soldering joints are ok? Check those. If they're ok, try putting a piece of drawer liner between your PCB and case. I've had that happen on my Pure with a CNC case as well as my 700R. Something seemed to be shorting out against the case. The drawer liner stopped my issues.

Edit: Oh yeah...I forgot there was issues with the LZ-GH firmware...

There's a debounce issue with the firmware. Some discussion can be found here and here. I can't remember exactly where Photoelectric was talking about it but I saw you linked the "Please fix it" thread.

Yeah, seems to happen more often than it should.

Yea, I have a layer of cloth between PCB and case and its not always the same keys that repeat so I doubt its a soldering issue. I'll check the joints and keep a log on the keys that its happening on and maybe re-flow those joints one day.

Now that I know this is called 'Chattering' I have found this thread http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=51663.new#new

I guess this is a firmware issue.

Yup, sounds like a firmware issue (debounce handling).  Last I heard, new firmware should be available later this month.  I hope it's true.

I hope so. I've been putting up with it for months. I finally switched back to my poker. Has anyone been using the existing firmware on Mac? I just plugged the board in and used it without using any firmware.
