i hated they way the beserker animated series ended...such a cliffhanger..
My friend, if you haven't read the manga, stay far away. It's like reading Lord of the Rings to page 1000, then discovering that author won't finish the rest of the novel in the next 20 years.
BTW the anime was less than 1/3 of Miura's intended story. Not to be mean about it, but Kentaro Miura basically is not as famous as Naoki Urasawa, because Urasawa (20th Century Boys, Monster, Pluto, Billy Bat...) can produce far more works of comparable quality in the same timeframe.
I think an artist is not just defined by quality; he needs some quantity also. Van Gogh wouldn't have been so famous if he only painted one or two paintings; Beethoven wouldn't have gained such exposure if he wrote just a couple of symphonies and sonatas. Kentaro Miura's snail like speed is his biggest weakness. He's probably even lost thousands of fans to old age/ death.
