I've found my way onto this site occasionally in the past but haven't registered before. I may have come to keyboard nerdery in a different way than most here -- not through being a gamer but through being middle-aged, and old enough to remember when mechanical keyboard were the norm. My first few computers were Radio Shack TRS-80s, including the Model 4 and the Model 100. (I'm fairly sure both of those used Alps switches.)
These days I'm a Mac user, on a sort of slow quest to find my Perfect Keyboard. So far I have a Unicomp Spacesaver M, Das Keyboard (Mac-specific variety), and a Matias Tactile Pro 3, along with a PC version of the Spacesaver and one of the current scissor-switch Apple wired keyboards. And one of Microsoft's curved keyboards that's astoundingly awful. I tend to switch back and forth between the Das and the Unicomp, but I've mostly settled on the Unicomp for now -- there's something about the switches in the Matias that make it actually hurt to type on after a while. I don't think it has a higher actuation force than the Unicomp, but maybe it bottoms out at close to the same force. (Someone here might have a better idea of that than I do!)
I'm probably here to be either talked into or talked out of ordering a CODE keyboard with Cherry Green MX switches. I'm not sure which one yet...
