Hello geekhack community!
I'm an undergrad math and compsci major and I've always been addicted to typing, heh.
I've had many mechanical keyboards through the years; I grew up using my father's IBM PCs, so I grew up using model m's... the only problem is that we took them for granted and got rid of them once the computers got outdated... o_0
I've stumbled upon GH many times, but I finally decided to register to see how my tastes compare to other users. I love buckling spring keyboards for the resistance they provide. I like to type hard/aggressively, but I can't say I'm a fan of the noise...I'm planning on converting to the church of Topre, but I'm putting off that investment for a bit, so I'm considering giving cherry switches a try ( i tried a mx-blue keyboard made by Razer at a local Best Buy and wasn't impressed). Currently, my favorite keyboard is the one on my Thinkpad T420... it uses membrane/scissor switches, but the keys provide a very pleasant resistance, and they provide a subtle tactile feedback . Anyone with similar preferences? if so, should i bother with the stiffer cherry switches or just convert to Topre right away?
I'm excited to start getting to know the GH community! n apologies for rambling in an introductory post... so here's a random question:
anyone like typing really fast in Vim?
let me know ( i *love* vim!)
best wishes, and a happy belated new year!
