Replacement for Rosewill RK-9000BRI
« on: Tue, 28 January 2014, 03:42:15 »
I'm looking for a replacement for my RK-9000BRI that is about 1.5 years old.  Its a great keyboard but the black on white is really clashing with my new custom set up.

The MX browns are just ok for me, I tend to just bottom the keys out as the keyboard before the Rosewill that I used for several years you really had to mash the keys to get anything to register and I can't seem to adjust to the lighter keys so I was thinking something heavier like MX Clear or MX Black would suite me better.

I'm looking at the Code Keyboard which looks amazing but WASD is currently out and they don't know when they'll get switches back.  Does anyone know of anywhere else I  can get it?  Or even of a keyboard that is very similiar (MX clears, backlit, modest but clearly is top quality, and I really like the media key but that's not needed).

I was also  looking at the Ducky Shine 3 in black with orange LED's as I have a Bitfenix Prodigy in orange and it would be awesome if the keyboard could match the case.

So I guess my optimal keyboard would be a TK black with orange LED, either MX Clear or Black with a modern font, detachable line (required as I have a cat with an affinity for cables and is fearless in the face of anything I've tried to use to stop her), and very high build quality. The Code matches all of these except the orange led's but its just such a nice keyboard that I'm willing to forgive it that.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Well you could always get a normal WASD V2 an dhave it modded but that would increase the price and they don't have a backlight.

Keycool is going some clear boards at the moment, but again they aren't fully backlight and the legends are :horrendous:.

I think your best bet would be a Ducky. Most comprehensive options of backlighting, size and switches going right now IMO.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

The Ducky Shine 3 has caught my eye, but I can't find anywhere that has it in stock =( same dilema with the WASD v2 keybaords.

I believe I've read that the CODE keyboard with Clears will be back in stock some time in March. Or it could have been April. But it will be back in stock if you can wait a few months.

I guess I'll just stick with my Rosewill until I can find a CODE or other suitable replacement.  I'll start by modding my Rosewill a bit, paint and o-rings for a start and see how that affect the feel.

If anyone has any other suggestions of keyboards to look at I'd love to hear them.

So far I'm considering the CODE Keyboard with MX Clears, and a Ducky Shine 3 Black/Orange LED with MX Black.
