a lot of new DELL AT101W on ebay in the UK
« on: Tue, 28 January 2014, 09:03:05 »
Hi,

wanted to share a link to an interesting find on ebay, I've already bought few of these from that gentelmen in the UK.

I could not believe it at first so had to wait for them to arrive before spreading the word. Those I've ordered arrived this morning, so now I can confirm that it is what it says in the title. Unused in boxes and still have some of that smell of plastic left. :D

It is some sort of dell warehouse sale as far as I know.

Neat. Are they the alps or the rubberdome version?

Edit: If I remember correctly, they could be either black or pink Alps or rubberdome. They also existed with both lasered and printed legends. Could you check the ones you received?

Edit2: For the record, he also has danish ones

I saw the danish one on Friday and ordered one right away, but then it only cost 5 Euro + 5 in shipping to Sweden.

Picked one up, offered less and he took it. I asked if I could return it if it was NOT mechanical and he agreed. Not tried a full board of ALPS so will be interesting.

Post == shipping? $9 economy international. I was a bit skeptical, but I asked and he confirmed.

I just received this message from the seller, about 5 days after paying:

Quote
Hi sorry but the cost of shipping to the USA is £23 , are you happy to pay the additional charge of £18 or would you prefer a refund ?
Thanks
Andrew

Not good. I proposed that we split the cost instead. I also noticed that he ended the listing early for the black ones (what I bought). The gray ones are still up with a new intl shipping cost of GBP 8.00. ??

Received the 3 keyboards ordered.  Haven't opened them but not happy.

Instead of packaging the keyboards in *anything* he felt tipped the address on the original boxes and wrapped the lot with packing tape totally ruining the boxes especially delivered on a rainy day!!!

Looks like it but was going to use one and keep the other two as mint in box as presents for my yet unborn twins for when they grow up.  Make perfect sense no?

That's really shoddy! Double-boxing should never be a question. I think that merits a neutral f/b at best.

No, but as I said, it was left with no damage to the box. It is very rainy in old England at the moment too and there was no sign of wet anywhere on the box/ inside

Can't answer your question but if you can get your hands on one do so as they're really nicely built and feel nice too.

Where they sealed new in box? Come with all the Dell manuals/literature? I see he taped three of yours together which is unfortunate.

Would you say these feel like a stiffer MX Brown? Maybe MX Blacks?

I never tried MX Blacks.

It does feel stiffer than a Brown but it's a completely different feel.  I would definitely prefer the Cherry feel to the Alps any day.

It also feels stiffer and rougher than the white and salmon alps I have on some apple keyboards I recently got.

The keycaps are also very tough to get off.  Wouldn't say they would survive rough removal and reinsertion.

You can ask the seller if he can wrap the original box in something and without scribbling on it.

Re: post it's very expensive to post from the UK to the US.  It recently cost me $8 to send a small packet under 200g to the US.

Should have asked for that.

I have received 1 today, and it wasn't double boxed, wasn't wrapped, and it had a writing all over the box. It did have "fragile" tape - making even more of a mess of the box.

The price was nice, I guess.

Mine was the same. The board was fine. It generally pisses me off when sellers don't double box, but the cardboard Dell box is nothing special, so whatever. I agree; for the price, I can let it go.
