[noob] looking for ErgoDox keycap set, europe
« on: Wed, 29 January 2014, 03:15:37 »
Hi,

I'm in the process of ordering an ErgoDox kit from czarek.
I'll be using Cherry MX browns and would like to know if there is a good place to buy an ErgoDox keycap set.

I'm looking for the type that goes up on higher rows and would prefer at least the standard QWERTY labelling.
I tried the wikis for being able to name the type I am looking for but there's not really much info there on the subject.

Any ideas on where to get some of those?
Any hints, info I need to know other than this noobish question?

Cheers,
Jeroen

BunnyLake's PENUMBRA set currently has extras up on his site.  You'll want to click on that link below to the store and select either the base set or the alphas as well as the ergodox extension set.  I'd hurry, extras are limited.   ;)

Thanks, I had seen that but when I got to the ctrl-alt homepage it didn't show up.
Anyway. Ordered.

This mechanical keyboard thing is costing me a lot of money, and I don't even have a keyboard yet.

I don't know about SA caps for an ergo dox though.  I have a set of SA caps. The R4 SPH space cadet set. The row profile difference with SA is intense.

I just bought a ergo dox myself on massdrop. I am going to use dsa caps.

@tricheboars
Why do you think that?
Key height?

If these don't work out, I think I'd rather try DCS (Found this overview: http://keycapsdirect.com/key-caps.php).

But I hope they will work out. It would also allow for some lower profile thumb keys to make it a little more ergo.
And I've been working with a solarized theme for quite some time now. At least the colours should fit in :)

i have a set of SA caps and they are not easy to type with really. but they look the best.... each row of the caps are a different height with a different slope. i am not sure how that will be with a matrix layout. i think SA would work better staggered.

anywho in regards to the ergo dox i think a uniform profile keycap is essential. at least that is what i am going for. dsa is the cap style of choice.
